name: Firedancer
age: 3 years
breed: QH/ TB cross
height: 15.3 hh
color: chestnut (ee/aa/Ff)
eye color: brown
gender: mare
markings: blaze, hind socks
history: Firedancer was always unpredictable, even as a foal. Raised by humans, she was sold at age two at auction to a man. He took her home and put her in the round pen. He took good care of her, but life was dull. There was no one to play with, no outlet for her curiosity. She got frustrated and bored, standing in her round pen. Not long after he bought her, her owner decided it was time to take her in to be broken by a professional trainer. He put on her halter and started taking her out, but he got distracted and ran into the house, forgetting to relatch the gate. She found her gateway to freedom in an instant. Pushing it open with her nose, she took off for the hills, leadrope flying behind her. No fences will hold this free spirit long.

Since arriving at Sunshine River, Firedancer has met quite a few interesting sorts. In the beginning, she ran into Patriot and a mare. The stallion seemed to be more interested in the other mare than her, which suited her fine. They took their leaves, and Firedancer briefly stayed with a small herd in Wild Horse Valley. But he next spring, she longed for a herd to call her own, and a stallion to call her own. She returned to the Watering Hole, where she met Rosemont and Patriot. But the chemistry wasn't right, not with Rosemont- both were too hot, lost their tempers too easily, and the encounter ended in a shouting match. But with Patriot, she found a new feeling- love. She joined his herd, eventually becoming lead mare and giving him Nirvana.
However, after a couple years Patriot vanished without a trace. Firedancer was grief-stricken, but accepted Parlos, who took over the herd. This led to her second daughter, Amaranth. And yet not even this would last long; Parlos vanished too, and Firedancer was stolen by Thunder Bay, leaving Amaranth on her own. In Thunder's herd, Firedancer had reached the end of her rope, and spent most of her time on her own. Once a carefree spirited curious individual, she became a cynic, and cared little for the world around her. Still, this didn't prevent her from raising her third daughter Avory.
Alas, time continued, as it always does, and once again, her herd vanished and she was left to wander alone. Perhaps the spark of Firedancer's heart has dimmed beyond any return; how much guilt and grief and loneliness can a mare take?
