Lullaby and Goodnight

A soft humming floated into the terra, a gentle lullaby like a mare would sing to her filly at night. Behind its beautiful sound was an unusually colored mare. Her features were delicate and her body structure that of a Mustang. But her coloring. Oh those markings. White, pure and innocent was her body. On her head, covering her ears was a bonnet of the deepest chestnut. On her sides, two chestnut patches shaped like those of wings of flight. And her legs, delicate and powerful, rose chestnut stockings to her knees and hocks. She was a beauty to behold. But her blue eyes, something was different about them. Moonlight almost poured from them. Her story was difficult, if a bit different. Her tale something unique. Her birth had happened in the dead of night, with the songs of the Nightingale playing as she entered the cold world. Her sire and dam? None could be too sure any more...her life played out among humans at times. Her own mind was incomplete anymore.
Her hooves carried her deeper into the mountainous terrain, her head upright and ears alert. It was the dark of night now, the witching hour and a Nightingale could be heard in the distance. In fact, she could always hear one. And her mother's lullaby. She could always hear that as well. She picked her way slowly along the small deer trail that she had been following, letting a small call flow from her muzzle. Her blue eyes stared into the darkness, the moonlight resting in their icy depths.
