Summer Storm
The tall young colt stood tall; he scanned the area for his step mother and father and his step sisters. He was little under six months now, but was the height of a yearling; his his baby hair going and his mane coming through slowly. He was a pure bred Andalusian; his large head sitting on a long scrawny neck. His large knees getting in the way when he wanted to run, jump and play.
Now the bay colt; stood in a patch of green grass; little of what was left. He stood tall; his head up, ears pricked as the sudden fall of sheeting rain started to fall; instantly soaking him to the skin within seconds, thunder rolled in the distance and lighting struck violently, A Summer's Storm; after which he was named, he stood watching in ewe.

[OOC: Is this open? I suppose we're still waiting for Whisper to reply in The Grand Entrance, so...]
A small palomino filly squealed in terror as another massive roll of thunder pounded through her ears and seemed to reverberate inside her head. She dodged from tree to tree, slipping on the soaked bracken that coated the ground, but her attempts to stay dry were in vain. Her pelt was more like a soaked rag draped across a shivering, delicate frame.
She was searching for her adoptive brother Summer Storm, for in such times her imagination tended to be overactive, and she always worried during bad weather that something bad would happen to one of the members of her adoptive family, and always wanted to keep her new family close around her in such storms. She had seen her adoptive mother and Ambrosia, and knew they were fine, and she trusted that her big, strong stallion father would be able to take care of herself. She had been torn between staying with her twin and looking for her step-brother, but in the end decided to go after the colt and see if he was all right.
For once, the sorrel twin was lagging behind. She was not afraid of the white lightning that split open the sky of black-blue clouds... in fact, she found it fascinating and really quite beautiful. Her red-brown pelt was as wet as her sister's, but she didn't mind. L'Arachel loved being out to face the elements... It gave her a feeling of exhilaration, although, being so young, she could hardly understand what exhilaration was.
She was following her twin Lute, for although Passion Forest was a completely safe terra in any and every situation, she was a bit protective of her weaker and slightly smaller sister. And yet, her palomino twin was such a worry-wart that she had to take off and find their adoptive brother Summer Storm, who had become energetic L'Arachel's new playmate. She was a bit curious where her brother was herself, but she mostly just wanted to make sure that her twin was safe.

Summer Storm
Summer Storm turned about himself; sending his legs underneath himself in the puddle that had formed around him; he kept his balance though; so when he had regained his composure; he was shocked to she the two young fillies out in such weather.
Moving easily from his place; he moved swiftly and easily to Lute's side. "Dear one; you should not be wondering alone on such a night as this" he said; speaking almost as if he had reached his second summer.
Looking about him; he searched for the other half of the couple. "your sister? She did not follow?" he asked.

Relief rushed through the little filly like warm water and she rushed towards her brother, still unable to find her footing properly on the slick leaves that coated the forest floor. Her slender frame fell against Summer Storm's solid, sturdy one as she slipped for the millionth time.
"I don't know," Lute said a bit breathlessly as she attempted to steady herself, swinging her mane, darkened by wetness, away from her face. "But I came looking for you! I was worried, I thought... I thought, maybe... Maybe that the thunder or lightning knocked down a tree and it fell on top of you! Or... or..." She could barely find the words in her mouth, she felt to silly. He had been all right all along... of course! She should have expected. After all, wasn't he going to grow up to be a big, strong stallion like their father one day?
The sorrel chuckled, stepping towards the pair so that they could see her more properly through the never-ending sheets of cold rain. She herself was blinking wildly and squinting in order to see properly, for the meddlesome water got in her eyes and ran down her face.
"I did come," she said cheerfully, shouting over a roll of thunder. "I couldn't resist the chance to get out in a nice bit of water... I assume you were thinking the same, Brother? And besides, I wanted to make sure Lute here didn't get into too much trouble! She has a tendency to do that when she's scared, you know." Lute was no longer scared, and leaped forward to nip her twin's flank admonishingly.
"I get in less trouble than you! Because I don't jump head first into danger!" L'Arachel just laughed and nipped her sister back playfully.
"Don't you run too fast now, or you'll slip," she warned humorously, right as her palomino sister lost her footing again and staggered.

Summer Storm
Summer Storm nuzzled Lute softly to reassure her; he let her lean against him till she found her footing once more. "as you can see I am quite alright; and you too are OK, and will be alongside me" he said to Lute to calm her.
He turned his head to the other twin. "ah, indeed; it is beautiful; for it is after which i am named" he said proudly as thunder rumbled once again and a flash of pink lightning flashed against the sky; not more than a mile away from them; striking a tree and allowing a branch to fall to the ground. "It is far to dangerous to stay undercover as most do; but it is much safer to brave the harsh water and wind than to be struck down by a falling tree" he said finally lifting his head to the sky.
Chuckling Summer Storm remained silent; he jumped forward easily; when Lute staggered again and nuzzled her softly with his muzzle "easy now" he said softly; before turning swiftly and going to her sister; and offering his muzzle to her in proper greeting.

It took the slender palomino a little bit to steady herself as she murmured a harried thank-you to Summer Storm. There was a slight silence between them, although it wasn't really silence considering they were standing in a small clearing, out of tree cover, and the sounds of the storm in full swing pounded through their ears.
After another enormous roll of thunder that seemed to make the very leaves in the trees shake, Lute squeaked in terror and blurted words began to rush past her lips. "We should go back to Mother and Aunty Ambrosia," the filly said pleadingly to her twin and adoptive brother. "What if they get worried that something happened to us? We're only foals still!"
L'Arachel chuckled slightly. "Your parents were smart," she told her brother and playmate. "They named you after something real powerful-sounding, so when you grow up to be a nice big stallion like Father, all the mares will be impressed and all the others stallions with respect you." She giggled at the thought of her brother being a strong, full-grown stallion, although she knew it would happen one day.
To Lute, she said smartly, "Come on, they know we're with Summer Storm and they know that Summer Storm is in the terra, so they know we must all be in the forest! And besides, what dangerous things could happen here?" However, she cut her worried twin off before the palomino began listing.
"And besides, the storm will probably pass over soon... why don't we enjoy the weather while we can?" Her sister groaned and gave up trying to convince her rambunctious sorrel twin, although she stuck like a bramble to Summer Storm's side.

Summer Storm
Summer Storm snorted loudly. "do not worry; they know where we are, and besides I would not give this up for nothing." he said touching his quivering muzzle to Lute as she stood close to him; breathing hot air onto her; hoping she would calm down and enjoy the wilds summer show.
He had recently started to feel things he had not been aware of before; and now he wondered just what type of mares his younger step sisters would grow up into; he had never thought of them as sisters; though he called them that, he always considered them to be friends more than anything. He tossed his head and lifted himself into a playful rear.
"Thank you" he said slightly embarrassed. "and you shall grow to be a wise mare; indeed to lead your own herd no doubt." he said finally to L'Arachel as he landed on the soft ground.

The sopping wet palomino couldn't help but laugh at her adoptive brother's words, swinging her darkened mane to and fro as she shook her head.
"Wise mare, huh, right," she snorted, rolling her warm, honeyed brown eyes. "More likely a reckless one!"
To Summer Storm, she shook her head yet again. "You really love standing outside and getting soaked so much?" she asked, a bit incredulously. "I mean, I know that my sister likes it... but I'd thought you were sane."
"Well!" the sorrel laughed, "Now I have someone to back me up! Come on, Lute, relax! Nothing can happen to us, really... but don't you think the sky is so beautiful during storms like this?" For a moment, L'Arachel tipped her head back to stare at the stunning black-blue clouds that choked the sky, occasionally illuminated by jagged strikes of golden-white lightning. In her opinion, nothing could be more amazing.

Summer Storm
Summer storm shook his head; sending a wild spray of water over the twins; only for his fast growing mane to fill with further water. "reckless or not; she will indeed be a beautiful mare; as will you" he said with a soft twinkle in his eye.
"Well now; this is surly as beautiful as the spring flowers; the fresh fruit; summer sunshine or the crisp winter ice and snow" He said pausing a moment before looking at Lute deeply; his ears pricked forward at her. "No one is sane; to be sane is not to live and even you have a side to you; to run, play and be careless; i have seen you as on the first day you arrived; so you cannot deny it as i saw it with my own eyes." he said finally.
"The worst that could happen to you is to catch a cold; and for that you could always cuddle up to me" he said giving them a serious look before chuckling loudly and moving away from the pair of them to wards a small embankment and climbing it he reared high; tossing his head against the dark sky; before landing and sliding from his place back to their level. "The sky is as beautiful as the pair of you; and no more so" he said falling silent to watch the wild weather continue.

The little palomino sighed and shook her head. Their brother was not too much older than them, and yet he was already full to bursting with proverbs like a stallion of many years might be. However, she stayed silent and watched him as he reared, and saw that he was growing. He was already bigger and stronger than when they had first met... and the very thought that she and her twin were growing in the same way, at the same alarming rate, was indeed a little bit disconcerting to Lute. For, although she put much more thought towards the future than the twin, it was as if standing out in a summer's storm cleared her mind, and now she found herself thinking about what it would be like, many years from now when they were all full grown, even more.
L'Arachel's thoughts, however, were far from the graveness of her sister's. Scrambling up the embankment to join Summer Storm, she sized herself up to him playfully like she had done many times before.
Yes, she was much shorter than him, but very well-muscled for a mare... well-muscled enough to be a stallion, but not tall enough. The sorrel filly tossed her wet mane and reared as well, although she slipped on the slick terra and plummeted to the ground.
However, she was a hardy little filly and picked herself up immediately. Her twin squealed with fright and rushed over, but in the end there was not a scratch on her, and all there was left was an incredibly annoyed Lute and a laughing L'Arachel.

Summer Storm
Summer Storm looked at L'Arachel as she reared; she was a tough little thing; no more than a few weeks younger than him. He watched her slip and fall; he stood still a moment; before shaking her head and moving to wards her and nuzzling her before chuckling lightly as he had seen his step father do.
He wondered where he would be in five years; who he would be wondering with and wondered if the twins would still be together or in separate herds. he moved away from them again watching the sky roll away almost suddenly; the sky cleared a little; the rain stopped but the thunder still rumbled and no lightning broke the darkness.

The rain stopped as suddenly and frighteningly as it had come. The slightly smaller filly glanced nervously back and forth around her. After a few moments of this, Lute shook the water from her mane.
"How temperamental these summer storms are," she sighed. "One moment they will be in full swing and the next they will be gone! Although," and here she turned to her brother, giggling a bit, "You are not the same, thankfully."
To L'Arachel, she said a bit crossly, "And you should never do that again! What if you really had been seriously hurt, what would we have done then?"
The sorrel laughed lightly. "But I don't have a scratch on me, so why worry about that at all?" she asked teasingly. Her twin cried out in exasperation, but L'Arachel merely grinned and began to walk easily away, studying the sky curiously.
The clouds were still a bruised black-blue, and looked as if they should still be pouring rain, but they weren't. And, by the moment, the clouds were becoming lighter and lighter, turning a mixture of blues and steely grays instead, although they still refused to let the sun shine through. All the lightning was gone, although the thunder could still be heard in the distance.
For one of the few times, the filly gave what her sister had said some thought. She's right, L'Arachel thought absently to herself. Summer weather is often quite strange.

Summer Storm
Summer Storm pranced on the spot; tucking his nose to his chest and moving forward slowly; before turning tightly on his haunches; nipping firstly Lute; then her sister and shouting "Tag!" before galloping away from them.
He slowed to a bouncy trot away from them turning to eye them and danced on the spot; making his young muscles ripple.
"A game by the wild Summer Storm" he shouted before rearing once again and slicing the air with his dark legs and pitch hoofs.

The little palomino shook out her heavy, wet mane, tutting disapprovingly at her adoptive brother in a very motherly way.
"Really now," Lute admonished her sister, who immediately pranced into play. "Not that the storm's over, it's no time to hang about! We should get back to Mother and Aunty Ambrosia, just in case they were worried about us when we were out all alone in the storm! She should at least let them know we're okay!"
The sorrel filly shouted, "Well, that's not fair! It was a surprise!" Sticking out her tongue childishly, she broke into a canter, slipping once or twice on the still-slick leaves, after the playful bay colt.
"Come on, Lute, you're being no fun!" L'Arachel said teasingly over her shoulder. "They know we're fine. Really, what's the worst that could've happened to us?" Her twin gave an indignant splutter, and before she could start listing, the slightly taller and more muscled filly had turned away was off after her brother, shouting all sorts of threats into the heavy summer air.
[OOC: I'm assuming it's still summer in this thread... lol]

OTC: yeah; i missed summer bic: Summer Storm
Summer Storm turned on his haunches easily; not letting them slip away from him he moved into a swift canter and flew past Lute. "come on; they know we are here; they will be able to hear us" he said as he turned again in his full on canter; slipping some as if he was on ice he righted himself before taking off again like a bullet and passing L'Arachel before cantering up a slight incline and stopping on the top; prancing he shouted to the pair. "Catch me if you can!" he moved off again towards L'Arachel; only to swerve away from her at the last minute before crashing into her.

The little filly spluttered indignantly, and was clearly groping for something to worry about as she stammered bits of words here and there.
"Yes.. well... but, I... what if they... Oh, you two just make me furious!" Lute cried, stamping her foot, as L'Arachel took off after their adoptive brother with a vengeance. She was catching up to him quite quickly, considering she was much, much shorter than he was.
L'Arachel exploded into laughter. "You're such a worry wart!" she shouted at her twin. "Come on, or else you'll lose!" She put a spurt of speed into still-slightly-wobbly legs in order to catch up to the leggy bay colt, who happened to be far ahead of her. The little Quarter horse filly relished in competition, and she especially loved to run, and run as fast as she could. She might have gotten this trait from one of her parents, but as the two tried not to think about what they might have inherited from their parents, Lute and L'Arachel would never know. Indeed, there were a great many things Lute and L'Arachel would never know about their past.

Summer Storm moved slower slightly and turned to Lute. "Very well if you are not happy; we shall escort you back to the mares and set out again in play" he said looking to wards her sister who was moving faster than he thought; turning sharply; he stayed slow to make sure she would not catch him and he would be able to dodge her; but he knew she would be swifter on her turns; due to his long legs. ooc: bad post i know :S

The palomino flushed immediately at her brother's words, although you couldn't tell because she swung her sodden, dark mane to cover her face.
"No, no, it's all right," Lute said hurriedly to him. "I'd hate to bring you to all the trouble, Summer Storm... I'm positive I can get back to mares safely..." She hated anyone doing favors for her, and always thought it bothered them too much... what a curious little filly she was indeed!
The sorrel roared with laughter at her sister's words. "First you want us to come back, but when we offer to escort you back and then go play, you refuse? At least the mares will, ah, know where we are, and know we're safe!" Her twin's face colored ever more at this, and Lute jumped forward to nip L'Arachel on the wither.
"You're just being a fiend!" she cried. "Oh, just stop it!" Turning to the bay colt rather stiffly, she said, "Very well, sir, you and my rogue sister may escort me to Mother and Aunty Ambrosia!"

Summer Storm
Summer Storm moved to wards Lute and bowed comically; "I would not consider you taking off alone; so we shall take you back safely." he said a moment before turning back to where they had originally come from and moved into a free trot; moving across the soft grass and in between what trees that where around. He knew they would have to travel through a dark woods to find the next clearing and he also found that the young fillies might be somewhat nervous; due to the sudden darkness that the night had brought.

Lute chuckled lightly. "Very well, sire," she replied in a true regal fashion. "escort my sister and I away."
She examined the sky a bit nervously as she trotted along in between her brother and her sister. It was darkening quickly, and the peachy-gold ribbons the setting sun had cast across the sky were fading and turning dark... The sun was a mere, reddish semi-circle, hanging low in the sky, ready to drop out of sight below the horizon. Nighttime always made the little palomino nervous, especially when she was alone and without any adults... shadows seemed to jump on her and frighten her out of her wits, even though there it was still fairly light.
The rambunctious sorrel twin, in comparison, usually loved the night. Her often over-active imagine was always hard at work as she studied the ever-moving shadows and the mysterious, pockmarked moon... she often told herself made-up stories about adventures after the sun had set as the rest of her herd lay peacefully asleep underneath the stars. She looked forward to the day when she would be grown-up enough to be allowed to romp off all on her own during the night... L'Arachel gave a bit of a dreamy sigh as she imagined it.

Summer Storm
Summer Storm stopped to look at his sisters. "come along" he said softly moving into a quick canter back to wards the small herd. He tossed his head impatiently; he couldn't wait to be running free; bounding over the rocks and dodging the trees.
He collected his canter to give the fillies a chance to catch up with him. he tossed his head again; removing his sodden mane from his large dark eyes.

[OOC: Should we just get Tachyon to come in for a post and lead Lute away and then L'Arachel and Summer Storm can go off playing?]
The palomino twin jumped a foot in the air at the sound of her brother's voice, as she had been so deep in terrified thought of what could happen to them, three foals, caught outside, alone, after sunset...
A shiver ran through her delicate frame, and she hurried to catch up with her sister and Summer Storm, who were quite a bit ahead of her, extending slightly trembling legs. Lute shook the thoughts out of her head, deciding she was doing nought but frightening herself. Which was completely true.
L'Arachel bounced alongside the bay colt at a brisk, cheerful pace. The filly always seemed to be energetic, for some reason. Quite unlike her sister, she wasn't sure if she was looking forward to seeing the parents... after all, their mother might not want them going out to play in the dark. But there wasn't much to play during a storm, and as she had played surprisingly little today, there was pent-up energy bouncing around inside of her sturdy frame, and she was ready to romp.

Tachyon walked into his terrra looking for the three foals. He knew that if the twins were with Summer Storm that they would be safe, but he wanted to be sure that they were safe. He walked over the wet terrain and towards where he could smell the foals. He bent his head down as he walked under a low branch. It was dark and the foals needed to be back. He jumped over a fallen tree. Some storm He was glad that it was no longer raining though. He hated being rained on. He looked around for the three foals. He noticed Lute, L'Archel and Summer Storm and walked over to them. He nuzzled each of them gently. "It is getting dark, you three should be getting home." It was getting cold and towards winter and also getting dark so it wasn't a good time for the three foals to be out alone. As he looked around he noticed that a light flurry of snow was beginning to fall.

Relief rushed with a shudder through the slender palomino's body, and she rushed forward to nuzzle her father affectionately, taking in his comforting, secure scent. She was immensely glad that she had found them, for it was quickly turning darker and darker. Turning after a moment, she regarded her twin sister and her brother with a rather stony expression.
"Yes, we should get going back," Lute told them severely, echoing her father's words.
L'Arachel laughed rather girlishly, tilting her head to one side with sparkling, charming eyes. "Come on, Lute, now that's no fun," she said teasingly to her sister. Turning to her father with a slightly more serious expression, she said lightly, "And besides, it's getting warmer now that it's stopped raining, and what could really happen to us if we're only playing inside the forest?"

Summer Storm
Summer Storm shifted nervously under his fathers gaze; he knew he wasn't his real father and his past so clear in his mind. And yet he knew once his father had spoken that was it; no arguing.
He flicked his wet mane and flung his tail spraying both twins with more water comically. He tossed his head impatiently; wanting to be older so he would wonder as he pleased. He started to wonder away from the group now.

Tachyon looked at the twins and Summer Storm. He listened as the twins spoke. "L'Arachel, if you would like to stay and play for a short time longer then you may as long as you stay with Summer Storm. If you don't stay with him then you will be in trouble. Understand?" Tachyon looked at L'Arachel and then at Lute. "Lute, if you would like to you may either stay with your brother and sister or some back with me to the mares. It is your choice." Tachyon lowered his muzzle to Lute and L'Arachel and nuzzled them both. "Summer Storm, do you want to keep playing for a while? If you do make sure that you stay with Lute and L'Arachel, if they want to play still. Got it?" Tachyon stood up straight and waited for the answers from all the foals.
