A lone palomino mare wandered along aimlessly. All had grown quiet in the Ridge of Rainbow, blood having soaked it's ground, pain and hurtful words scarring it. Yet, good memories had made their impressions here as well, love and passion streaming through it. She sighed. The mare was lonely. A chill ran through her pelt, a tripling effect starting. Velvet's mind turned to King, who she had not seen recently. Another sigh. Winter was not her favourite season. And wouldn't ever be.

A rock suddenly loomed before her, the mare dodged it in order to remover the danger of tripping on it. The wind billowed through her mane, and penetrating her golden coat. It had grown thicker and more woolly due to the arrival of winter. Deep withing her was a tiny kick. Velvet giggled. She couldn't wait until winter's end and the arrival of glorious spring. There was so many things to look forward to, the arrival of her foal, warm days and the sun. She shivered and began to think of all the things she enjoyed about spring. How exciting it would be!

The darkness of winter had given way to a fresh spring. Velvet should've been happy, but she wasn't. Her love was missing and she was dangerously close to foaling. Another reason to be sad. She would be a first-time mother soon, and had no idea about what to do. The sun beat down upon her palomino pelt, warming her intencely. Something deep within her told her that something would go wrong. She ignored it. She prepared herself to sleep, thinking about foal names.
BANG!
Her eyes snapped open immediately, wondering if she had dreamt it.
BANG!
There it was again. Pain lanced through her abdomen. Velvet winced, worry striking her down. No, it was too early for the foal to come, she at least had another season to go. What was happening? Fierce strokes ate at her mind, body and soul.
She cried out, wishing that King was here.
Too early... She kept thinking. It's too early... The mare knew that she needed help, and now. She rose, staggering to the exit of the terra and out of it, just hoping that this would end.
