It seemed like a typical, lazy summer afternoon in Apple Alley. The cicadas buzzed, but softly, and the air was heavy, humid, and swelteringly heated, and hung low over the treetops.
However, suddenly, a piercing shriek of pain split all the quietness. Standing in the shade of a few apple trees, there was a rather young-looking, dappled-gray mare, her back bent over double with agony. Her pearly white mane was glued with sweat to her arched neck. Snowdrift had never known pain as terrible as this. She'd heard that birthing was supposed to be painful... but really, did it have to be this awful?
"H-help!" The young mare barely managed to choke out her cry. Alaskan Star and Everlasting were nowhere to be seen, unfortunately.
She strained for, seemingly, hours, maybe even days. No one arrived to help her. In the end, she simply gave up hope entirely...
And then it was all over, surprisingly fast. Relief flooded her frail frame. And, shaking, the mare fell to the ground, unconscious.

Too Much Pain Alaskan Star[/u] The stallion was grazing lazily in the sun on the other side of his territory. The birds whistled happily in his ears as he sighed and settled into his grazing. flicking his tail lazily as he moved one foot to another. The birds suddenly quietened; so Alaskan Star raised his noble head and cast his eye around him. His sharp eyes picked up nothing to be wary of. He kept completely still; only a muscle jumping in his neck was noticeable. He was about to lower his head again to graze satisfied that there was no threat to him or his small herd. It was then he heard his leads cry. His head shot up further; and pricked his ears in the direction it cam from. Suddenly he jumped into action a strangled snort escaped his muzzle and he set out at a flat out gallop in the direction the neigh came from. Bounding over the grassy tufts and sharp rocks. he stumbled slightly at one point and cut his leg; but not fazed in the slightest he hurried to his beloved mare. Reaching her he slowed to a sudden stop as he spotted the beautiful mare and the small bundle. He let an excited snort escape his muzzle now as he dipped his head slightly; walking slowly to wards the mare and foal. now he was limping; his leg getting stiff and pain coursing through his muscles.

When the mare awoke it was, thankfully, with her beloved stallion standing over her. Shaking and sweating, she arose unsteadily, her quivering brown eyes sliding from Alaskan Star, to the shivering, wet, gray bundle at her feet. Although, it was no longer a bundle... it was unfolding trembling, thin legs, and raising its head, to look at its parents.
"A colt." Her legs collapsed from exhaustion, but she didn't mind. It brought her closer to her son. "A colt." An enormous grin split Snowdrift's lovely face. "A colt! We have a son!" With enormous love, she began to clean the little colt.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The unnamed colt rose on legs as wobbly as his mothers'. However, he was an unusually strong foal, and seemed to have surprisingly few problems standing. He could hear his mother sigh with relief as he began to nurse, and briefly wondered why, although his young mind did not linger at all on it.
As he stepped away, he turned and, to his utter surprise and slight fear, saw some enormous black stallion, standing almost uncomfortably close.
Too Much Pain
Alaskan StarThe stallion chuckled with delight at the colt and his wonderful mother. If his leg had been fine he would have ran and skipped and jumped with joy. He lowered his head so he did not look scary to the small horse but thought with some amusememnt that he would still look scray even if he tried not to be. "You are wonderful Snowdrift; you have done so well. I wish i had been here to comfort you. I came as soon as i heard." He said stepping forward and let his quivering muzzle roam on the mares body. "A beautiful colt" he said looking at his son; his first born. "What shall we call him?" he asked as he looked from his son to his beloved mare back to his son. "Hello son; I am your father."
"Alaskan Snowstorm." The relatively young mare said the name with firmness and satisfaction. "After all... he's nothing but a mix of the two of us, isn't he?" She giggled slightly, shaking out her snowy, light mane. Snowdrift was still quite young and slightly airy, even as a new mother.
Nuzzling her son, she surveyed him intently. "Are you feeling all right, dear? If you ever feel bad, just tell Mummy, or Daddy here. Okay?" Taking a deep breath, she sighed and touched her nose to her stallion. "Oh, he's so beautiful."
[OOC: Too lazy to RP AS right now xD]
Too Much Pain
Alaskan Star"Alaskan Snowstorm; a great name" He said touching his nose to snowdrift and the offering a welcome nuzzle to his newborn son. He rested his leg; make sure it was no on uneven ground or resting awkwardly. "He is our first born foal; and shall be the one to take the herd on in further years than me" he said, he was nearing his peak in years and health; but they only lasted three winters and he knew it was downhill after that, but he didn't plan on moving onto another world for sometime yet, but the herd would have to move on before.
