Pay Homage To The King

Hoofbeats trembled the ground as the large black and white gelding strode in at a sedate canter. His full mane and tail rippled behind him like dancing flames, his feathering dancing on his legs as he moved. He was a purebred in the wild, like his sire. Something in his heart made him have to be wild, to long for the wilderness and to be free. His movements almost made it seem as if he was dancing, his head upright in the air, his nostrils taking in the wind. The King was nearby, in this terra somewhere. He halted, raising high into the air and letting a scream flow from his muzzle, dancing on his hind legs. Gracing the ground once more, he turned to those following him

She entered at a sedate trot, her tri color hide gleaming in the light. Her mane and tail were thick and luxurious, her feathers gleaming in the light. She was a purebred as well, her heart that of the true Gypsy. She let a call flow from her muzzle, almost in answer to her brother's call. She never raised herself up or screamed overly loud. She, after all, was used to living in the wild since she had been lost. She sniffed the air as she came to a halt next to her sibling. The King was here, nearby. Her ears trembled at the thought of finally meeting her sire.

Kadison and Orchid had left their homes long ago in this journey, nearly years ago. They had found each other as if by fate, then had been driven to this land, as if by fate. One did travel with them in search of a herd. A friesian. Another breed similiar to the Vanners. Perhaps she could find freedom in this land of the King?

Minu trotted a little ways behind Orchid, her black mane, tail, and feathers blowing in the breeze. She had found the two horses at the river, and had jumped at the chance to come with them to find their sire, to find a home.

And now, they were here. At the ridge. Kadison and Orchid were more...wild than Minu. She didn't know what to do when they both called out. She didn't know if she should or not, so she didn't. She merely gazed around at the surroundings. This was supposed to be where Orchid and Kadison's father's herd was. Minu gazed around, spotting a small band not far away.

"Kadison, Orchid! Look there! Do you think that could be his herd?"

Kadison snorted softly, his eyes flowing up to the ridge. A dun stallion stood on a rise, looking down at them. "There, that is where father is, I am sure of it. Just how to get up there..." He shook his head.

Orchid snorted softly, her head lifting to look at the dun stallion. Something about him caught her eye. He was strong and handsome, if a bit older. She shook her head slightly and nodded, "Yes, father is up there, but the way is long and steep. There, a path beside the waterfall looks used."

Indeed the path had been used by horses before, but it was full of rocks and water, a dangerous place to even attempt to make the rise. But it was the only way without going around through other places. At least they knew that father had picked a place that was well protected.

Minu gazed at the dun looking down on her and her two companions. She was looking for a place to get up to him, when Orchid answered her thoughts.
"Well, do we dare try to climb up there, over and around the rocks and water? It may be a treacherous journey to even get up to the top."

Minu swished her long tail, watching the two Vanners, waiting for one of their replies. Inside she hoped they wouldn't have to, because one of them could fall down while traversing that area beside the waterfall. Yet, she knew there was most likely no other way up to the top, and they would have to go up that way.

Kadison snorted and tossed his head, "That is the only way that I see. We have to make it up that incline. At least if we do that, then father will know that we are strong enough and will want us to stay with him." He looked back towards Minu and Orchid, his eyes intent on the prize at the end, but still not sure that even he could make it up that incline. He looked at the steepness once more, his eyes worried.

Orchid sighed softly and looked up the incline towards the dun stallion once more. There was still something about him...but she would never know unless she went up there. She snorted and started walking towards the rocky incline, her hooves sure in the way that she moved. She knew what had to be done and was ready to start the end of their journey...

"All right then. I guess it's best we be on our way; it may take a while." Minu replied to Kadison.
Orchid started walking to the incline, and Minu followed her, trotting ahead of Kadison. She looked up the incline once more, looking for any rocks that seemed like that move out of place, making one of the horses lose their footing. If either Minu or Orchid lost their footing on the way up, if the other horse or horses don't move quickly enough, they could all fall down the incline, and possibly get hurt. Which would not be a good thing. But, they were all built for pulling carriages and the like, so they were strong. We should be able to make it up to the top. If any of us do slip, we can always use our weight and try to stay. Minu shook her head, flies were messing with her ears. She hated flies.
