The stallion looked to the mule as he spoke. "Nice to meet you." He looked over the mule and colt again and noticed their scars. He looked over the colt more and saw the fear in his eyes and how he trembled. He felt bad for the colt which was unusual for this stallion, he usually didn't like other stallions but he showed kindness to the two and looked to the mares again. "I am an open book, ask what you want, i would like to get to know everyone as well." He looked to the other mare "Nice to meet you Blue Wings." He noticed how she stood and tried his best not to look intimidating.

The mule gave a grudging nod. "And the same to ye." He felt Cochise's side brush up again his own, and stood a little straighter, a buffer from the world. Poor colt. He deserved pity. But the pinto was fairly ashamed of himself. He never said it out loud, but in his sleep he had a tendency to mutter. Cougar had learned a lot about his young charge that way. A twinge of guilt rippled through him, but he ignored it. He would never do anything to hurt Cochise. Ever. The young stallion had suffered enough in life. While Cougar listened to Cloud Cap's words, he nodded, but said nothing. They were not "open books". Some things are not meant to be talked about, much less lived through. Their own past, for example.
Cochise blinked a little. The stallion wasn't laughing at him. Or chasing him off. Maybe he was like those other mares, when they first escaped, who had pitied him and fussed over him. That had been awful. He was a frightened thing, yes, but he was also stallion, almost fully grown. He still had some remaining scraps of pride. Oh well. Better than being attacked. On hearing Cloud Cap's words, he blurted out, "W-where do y-you c-come from?" Immediately, he looked horrified with himself. He wasn't supposed to talk. And especially not like that. His muzzle sank a little, and he quite all of a sudden became intensely interested with the ground.

Blessed Waters smiled at everyone. She nuzzled Cochise and then lifted his muzzle a bit with hers. She looked into his eyes and smiled at him. She withdrew her muzzle after she lifted his. She stood right beside him, her body pressed against his. She nipped lightly at his mane and neck. She made sure not to hit his scars. She didn't want to hurt him. She smiled at him again. "By the way, Cloud Cap, I am Blessed Waters." She looked at Cloud Cap.

Cloud Cap nodded to Blessed Waters as she stated her name "Nice to meet you." He looked over the group again, he was a little nervous, not sure what to say next. He looked around hte land quickly to see if other stallions were around, but seeing none he looked back to the group.

Cochise's eyes widened at Blessed Waters attentions. Cougar noticed this and chuckled. Then, he lifted and said, "Well, now that we're all introduced, movin on." He paused, then added to Cloud Cap, "And I believe the kid asked ye somethin bout yerself. There's a good start now." If no one else was going to volunteer anything, well then, Cougar would have to take charge and pilot the conversation. He didn't do awkward silences. Silences, sure, but not awkward ones. He only enjoyed them if he caused them on someone else for their own stupidity. Then it was hilarious.

Blessed Waters stood and waited for a while. The silence was kind of awkward, but she kinda liked it. It gave her more time to mess around with Cochise. She thought he was so cute and she liked that he wasn't like most stallions that were loud, obnoxious, and rude. Cochise was sweet, quiet, and nice. She nuzzled him again. She nipped lightly at his mane and nuzzled his muzzle. She put her body against his and rubbed her neck against his as she nuzzled him. She smiled at him.

Cloud Cap perked his ears as the colt spoke the question. He smiled slightly and nodded "Ah, I come from, well, it is not near but it is not far. I travel mostly in a land of no ones, i was just lucky enough to stumble on the river and find horse life here. I don't have much of a profile, I am just a wild horse looking for a herd of his own. I was able to claim some territory and am now looking for some herd members." He nodded as he finished again, he had known some horses with some pretty bad past and horses with exciting past, he wasn't one of them though, he had not even laid eyes on a creature known to wild horses as the 'human'.

Cougar raised his eyes slightly. "Well, you're a vague one, sure and enough," he commented. But his ears pricked slightly. there were horses upstream. Normally, this didn't attract his attention, but he caught snippets of their conversation, and his interest was piqued. He just might have to go find out some more about this. "Excuse me for a bit, will ye?" he nodded to them, then, seeing Cochise's horrified look at being left alone, he added in an undertone, "Buck up, kid, ye'll be fine for a few minutes, alright?" He turned his stiff body upriver and hobbled off.
Cochise listened to the stallion. That life didn't sound too bad, really. He wondered what it would be like to have a life like that. He didn't know what a normal existence was, having spent half his life in a dark, cramped stall, having all sorts of odd things done to him. As Cougar left, he almost whinnied in mild panic, but settled down to breathe nervously. He was shattered even with Cougar there; without the mule next to him, he was a wreck. But come to think of it, he would be three this spring, nearly full grown, and expected to be an adult.
The thought terrified him.

Blessed Waters watched as Cougar left and looked at Cochise's face. He had a frightened look on his face. She nuzzled him and whispered in his ear. "Don't worry. He will be back soon and I will be with you. I will stay with you forever." Blessed Waters' voice was sweet and friendly. Her voice was filled with kindness and truth. She would never leave Cochise because she had made a promise to him and she would always honor her promises. She nuzzled him once again and stood there.

Cap looked to the horses Cougar was going to as he left. He wondered what the mule was up to but let him be and looked ot the others. He could see the young colt was nervous but Blessed Waters seemed to be keeping him calm. He turned to Blue when she asked the question. "No, I was able to get some land in Misty Falls but I don't have any herd members. Not even a lead mare." He wasn't sure how he was going to choose his lead mare.

Cochise's frightened eyes were on stalks. These mares weren't afraid at all, in very great contrast to him. And this stallion was what stallions should be- claiming lands, building herds, growing up with others their age. Not stuttering, whimpering, cowardly colts like Cochise. He was vaguely ashamed of his weak constitution, but he couldn't find a way to change. He could never stop stammering, and he always felt terrified. He tried to be brave. Tried being the operative word here, not succeeded. But maybe could learn, someday, and fix himself up. Maybe.
Haha, funny, that. Yeah right.

Blessed Waters smiled at everyone. She looked at Cloud Cap and spoke to him. She was rather to the point, but she didn't mind. "Maybe Blue would like to be your lead mare, that is if we join your herd. I do not care for the position at all, but I am sure Blue would make a fine lead mare." Blessed Waters nuzzled Cochise again and spoke to him in a whisper. "If you had a herd I would be your lead mare gladly. Perhaps we should make a herd of our own." Blessed Waters smiled at Cochise and nuzzled him lovingly. When she spoke her voice was quiet enough that none of the others could hear the words, except her and Cochise.

Cloud Cap consitered what the mare said. He looked over to Blue but saw that she was uncomfortable. She seemed to be the quiet type of mare but that didn't bother him. He had seen very controlling mares and they usually weren't very fun, he had seen mares that didn't care of the herd and that couldn't happen in his herd, but perhaps a quiet mare that spoke when she needed to would be good for the herd.

Cochise's eyes widened. His knees quivered slightly. An inaudible squeak escaped him. Him? And Blessed Waters, a herd? That would mean... he would be... the only male. Which made him the top male. Which made him a- a- a leader. It was not only horrifying, but laughable. Cochise. Lead. A herd. If Cougar was here, he might be rolling with laughter. Then again, maybe not- Cougar understood his fears better than anyone. Still... him, lead a herd? He probably should have made some sort of response to that, but all that came out was a sort of stuttering unintelligible mumble, eyes downcast, blushing furiously. He pretended to be busy listening to the rest of the conversation, heart hammering like a bird in a cage.

Blessed Waters looked at Cochise as hee stammered and stuttered. "Oh, I understand." She spoke in a whisper that was almost non-existant. She held her head a litle lower than usual. She had hoped that Cochise felt about her the same way she felt about him. She didn't know that because of his past he would not ever lead a herd. She sighed and walked a bit away from the little group. She thought a bit about why he would not want to start a herd with her. Maybe she could ask Cougar.

Cap looked in the direction of his territory. He didn't want to rush the group but he would like to know "So, Would any of you be interested in visiting my terra and perhaps staying?" He hoped they would, it would be nice to have the lovely group of horses in his home. He swished his tail at a fly as he waited for the groups answer, his blue roan coat shimmering in the spring sun.

Cochise glanced wild-eyed around the group, hoping someone else would answer for him. But he was saved: Cougar returned, at a stiff, rapid walk, and motioned behind him. "Picked up a couple friends," he said shortly, nodding towards Celeris and Artemus. Cochise sighed in relief and trotted towards his guardian mule, taking up his usual station on Cougar's left side where the pinto colt would be least vulnerable. He lowered his head submissively, subduing his shaky knees at the strangers' approach. There were so many new horses here, and he was just a little three year old, helpless. That was how he saw it. Other three year olds would be tough and challenging authority, but Cochise fled from it.

(OOC: Sorry this is such a short post - energy level is at a serious low. Who's gonna add Manda and I to the posting order?)
Celeris moved at a slow pace behind the mule, eyeing every horse around her as if expecting them to pounce on her at any moment. Her ears swiveled high speed, picking up almost every sound around her. All this social interaction was over-whelming, but she was trying her best to trust Cougar and Artemus to keep her safe. Sure, she was the most capable of the bunch physically, but the others were stallions - surely that had to count for something, right? Right?

Artemus trotted slowly after his two new-found friends. He slowed to a stop to avoid running into anyone. He smiled at the other horses, he couldn't see them, but he could smell that it was a fairly large group of horses. Artemus pawed at the ground slightly. His stomach growled slightly and he walked over to a tree. He ripped some leaves from the branches of the tree and chewed them slowly. He enjoyed leaves much better than the horrid taste of grass. Some equines think he is insane for not eating grass, but he doesn't care.

Cap looked to the two new horses that followed Cougar to the group. He was surprised, he basicly had a whole herd if the horses would join him. He watched the new comers a little and spoke a greeting to them "Hello there, I am Cloud Cap." He wanted to talk of his land that he claimed and ask them to join him but he didn't want to rush the new horses. He hoped the group would come with him, it would be grand to have a herd of such size.

Cougar felt Cochise give an involuntary shudder. "Relax, kid," he muttered, only for the colt to hear, "They won't bite. An' if they do, ye know I'll bite 'em back for ye." The pinto swallowed, and twisted his head so that his left side was facing the newcomers. He trusted Cougar with his life, but was still wary. His legs moved carefully in the grass, tending to the weak tendons, as he stepped backwards nervously. He kept his right side facing towards the mule, so that Cougar could watch his weak side. It was difficult being partially blind, and constantly fretting about whether your tendons were going to snap in a second, but he kept it hidden. He did not need more shame to be publicized. No one needed to know.

Blessed Waters was standing a bit away from the rest of the large group. She watched as Cougar returned with two new horses. She walked over to Cochise and stood beside him, on the opposite side of the one that Cougar was stanging by. She nuzzled him gently before she looked at the two new horses. "Hello, I'm Blessed Waters. Who are you?" Blessed Waters began to graze quietly on the new spring grass. She was glad that winter had passed. Blessed Waters' long winter coat was gone by now and her short spring coat was shimmering in the sun.

Celeris scooted toward Artemus, seeking security from a familiar face. She briefly glanced at him, not caring about his strange enjoyment of the leaves, before turning back to the rest of the crowd. Mares were in the majority in this group. She knew at least one of the males was sterile and the other two were disabled. What about the other one? The blue roan? He looked capable enough. Maybe he'd behave himself since they were in such a large group, though. And if not, she hoped to death that she would be quick enough to get away.
She bobbed her head slightly as each horse introduced itself. There was quite the interesting assortment of equines here. A mule, a blind stallion, the paint, who was scarred and disabled, herself and two other mares and the blue roan. As she ticked each horse off in her mind, the roan's breathing started to rapidly increase as she sucked desperately at the air. This experience was proving tough on her mind. Trying very hard to regain her composure, she squeaked "C-C-C-Celeris."

Artemus felt Celeris move closer to him and turned away from the leaves. He sidled up next to her and gave her a firm, but gently nuzzle of reasurance. He looked in what her beleived to be the general direction of the rest of the group and spoke. "I''m Artemus." He spoke with confidence in his voice and held his head fairly high. He did not mentioin his blindness, he would let the others find out about it on their own. She spoke again inquiring about the young colt by the name of Cochise. "Who is the one here by the name of Cochise?"
~~~
Blessed Waters turned to look at the white stallion by the name of Artemus. She looked at his eyes and at the blank stare on his face and could tell that he was blind. She had met one other blind horse in her life, but it was only a short encounter. She had watched as the stallion ate the leaves from the trees and thought that it was quite odd, but she didn't say anything. She nuzzled Cochise gently and motioned toward Artemus. "I think he wants you. How does he know your name?"
Cap looked over the nice group of horses. Wow. He thought, it would be great to start with a herd this size. He looked over the males in the group, normally he would push them out right away but he looked to the mule and colt. The colt was defently not a threat to him or the herd, and the mule would probably only snap if messed with. He looked over to the new stallion and looked him over. Cap could quickly note the cloudy eyes and know he is blind. That stallion wouldn't be much trouble either. So far, he exepted everyone.
