(Starting off right with a crappy title pun, eh?)
The woods seemed dark and foreboding when she was alone; Firedancer was used to being on her own by now, as she had spent some time by herself between herds and her most recent group had disbanded some time ago. Still, since then she'd had her colt Arapaho with her- he was hardly something that made her feel safer, on the contrary he was more likely to attract danger, but he was company. Now, however, the colt had run off somewhere in his play, and before she really noticed, it was as if he had disappeared off the face of the earth. Suddenly it was eerily quiet among the trees, and though she occasionally whinnied to call for her son, the chestnut mare no longer felt very confident attracting attention to herself. Where could he possibly have run off to? Firedancer had never really been a fantastic mother, but of course she would still be anxious about her baby going missing, and it took a great deal of effort to ignore the catastrophic scenarios playing in her head. She paused mid-step and whinnied again, hoping for some answer.

(I rather like the name lol)
Dusty watched Mist and Nix play but when he heard the sound of a call; his ears perked up and he shook his black red highlighted mane. "Who is that daddy?" Mist said as she came galloping up to him. Phoenix was also right with her since the two had become fast friends. "Stay here while I check it out, if anything happens, stay together." Dusty said as he started off. Letting out a nicker to the frantic horse, he hoped to calm them down and figure out where they were. He trusted Nix to be protective of Mist, but he knew that there was no danger to fear.
Mist watched the buckskin stallion walk off towards the sound but she gave a toss of her head, tapped Nix and galloped off, waiting for the appaloosa to follow her. It was a game the two had started and even now, when she was worried, she could play the game and she had come to find that Nix liked to play the same game.

Firedancer halted and raised her head at the sound of another horse; it was quite obviously not the voice of her little colt however, but a fully grown adult, and a stallion if she was not mistaken. This made her hesitate for a moment, but then she shook her head. She was simply getting paranoid, any horse would after wandering around alone, and she was already worried about Arapaho. It was unlikely that this stranger, whoever it was, meant any harm. In fact, he sounded quite friendly. The chestnut mare neighed again, stepping forward to seek out this unexpected companion in the woods.
Arapaho had no idea where he was. One second he was following his mother along between the giant trees; then he spotted a vole and chased after it; then it disappeared down a hole, and he was peering to see where it went. And then, when he turned around, he recognized nothing around him (not that he could really tell one tree from another), and moreover, his mother was nowhere in sight. Suddenly, the quiet emptiness felt very dangerous, and the forest which had once been an inviting playground had become a menacing monster.

Dusty sighed as he walked, he knew that Mist would be alright but h still worried since this was a land he was not sure of. Following the mare's call, he stepped into her view and stopped. Lowering his head to his side he showed he was of no threat. "I am Dusty or Dust." he said as he pulled his head up. "You seem stressed, how can I help?" he asked. Nickering to the way behind him, he waited for both the mare's response and Mist and Phoenix to come to him.
Mist had been galloping around with Nix, but when she heard the call of her adopted father, she bolted to his side without a second thought to it. Nix how ever walked instead of galloping with his best friend. He had a limp to his walk since he had tripped and fell. He wasn't the most sure footed horse in the world but he would survive it. Soon he reached Dusty and Mist. Mist had turned to see the appaloosa and said,"About time you got here." She giggled and as she nuzzled her friend.

He heard them and smelled them before he bad ever seen them. Yes, his senses were on edge in this new land, but his body posture spoke of confidence and ease. The grey stallion slid through the trees as he let his senses envelope the land. His nostrils flared and he followed the scents of the other horses. Maybe they would play a game with him.
He was no foal nor was he elderly. He was a stallion that had seen a few years under his hooves, but his coat was not white yet. He paused in his striding, maybe he should not play a game this time. He had seen enough death for the last few months and a respite would do him well. Standing under a tree, he just listened to the words of the other horses and watched them carefully, studying their movements as he had studied all his life. Roulette was a watcher and one that learned very well.
