Ophelia was born and bred on a working farm. Her mother and father had done the same thing for as long as they could remember and well, she would as well. They pulled wagons and worked hard in the fields where plow horses were still used. They went to shows and taught others about their breed. But Ophelia wanted more out of life. She wanted to go places that were wide open and places where she could canter and frolic. No, her parents said. You must work.
But Ophelia would not work. Her life was not horrible. She was never abused or stolen, in fact nothing went wrong other than she just wanted something new. So when the latch was just a bit loose one day, she merely sauntered away. OK, maybe it wasn't during the day. It was actually closer to midnight and the humans were sleeping.
Out on her own, she got to do what she pleased. But wasn't always fun. Mean animals chased her and mean horses tried to hurt her. But she knew that she wanted this. Her soul needed this. Then she met Adept. Adept was sure a handsome stallion and one that she loved intensely. She followed him everywhere, even when he came to this new land with two stragglers and he had sired a foal while she had not conceived that year. But she loved him.
