A heavy sigh escaped her lips as she sauntered into this red land. She had been here before, in fact she had been everywhere in these lands before. The trip colored Gypsy was no stranger to these lands at all. Her name was Orchid and she was quite possibly the last of an era. Her father, King, had ruled and then perished in these lands as had his family and offspring. She shook the thought from her aging skull. No, she would not be depressed. Not now. Her stomach roiled with new life as she slowly halted. No, it wasn't time yet. But soon. Ears swiveled and located her stallion. Adept was close behind her and quietly watching his only mare. She smiled to herself, then her eyes spotted her son, Chase. The goofy stallion seemed odd at times and just had never left his mother's side. Maybe he would find a made some day.
Adept's Folly stuck close to Orchid now that her time was close. This was his first foal sired outside of a breeding shed. The mainly white draft stallion complimented Orchid in color, but osofttime would tell what color the foal would be. Adept strode beside his lead made and Nuzzled her softly,
"Do you need rest, dear?" His deep voice fluttered from his depths.
Orchid smiled softly and returned his loving nuzzle,
" I could walk all day if it mattered. But I am hungry and small cramps are tickling my sides." She lowered her head and tore at the green grass.
Chase stood close to his mother, the small chestnut and white stallion had a nervous look in his face as he spotted Adept. A soft snort rippled his nostrils as he reached for his mother's mane. As a five year old, he should have been on his own, but something was clearly not right with him. A large scar ran from the top of his head and down the front if his face. Something had done damage to his head, maybe that was the reason he still acted like a foal.
Orchid lifted her head and touched a soft nose to her son,
"I hope he understands that a new foal is coming. That fall certainly hurt him." She sighed softly and looked back towards Adept.
"He will be fine. Maybe a bit miffed at first, but he will be fine." Adept lowered his head to the grass, keeping an eye on the scrawny son of Orchid.
