Krel, a black Fell Pony strode confidently into the forest. His solid hooves struck the ground and his mane and tail swung around him. Feathers at his hooves brushed the ground gently as he continued walking, his ears turning towards his companion beside him.
"Charger, do ye think this will be a good place to settle down for a spell?" His voice was thick with a Scottish accent as he paused in his walking to look to the stallion beside him.
Charger was a larger Welsh Pony stallion. His black hide was flecked with white and a large blaze took up his face and four white stockings charged up his legs. He was a friend and companion to Krel and the small herd that they shared with each other,
"Well, Krel, it is spring and the mares will need rest. Your Flower just foaled a few days ago and I believe that little Butterfly will be needing a rest." His warm voice was not as heavily accented with the accent, but it was still there.
Two silver bay mares strode up behind Charger, one larger and older than the other one. The older one was a sabino Silver Bay with a large blaze and three white stockings. Silver was her name and she had been with Charger since before they had left their home lands. The smaller and younger silver bay was their daughter Aurora. Aurora had a blaze and two white socks to separate her from her mother. They snorted softly and paused behind the stallions, lowering their heads to graze the sweet grass that was beginning to bloom.
Behind them came two more mares, all part of this small herd. A chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail and a blaze and a light grey. These two mares were heavy and had foaled recently. The chestnut, who was named Harlow, had foaled a solid black filly named Firefly and the grey, named Flower, had foaled a chestnut filly with a blaze named Butterfly. They looked towards Krel and Charger, then lowered their muzzles into the grasses while their foals nursed heartily at their sides.
