Dreams and Wishes

[Dusty's Girl]

Light sighed as she watched Darkness and Dreamer playing around. Ever since Darkness had been caught, she had taken on a bigger role of protecting her and her son; but she will say she missed her stallion. Sighing she walked away from the two who were playing around.

Walking away to graze she lifted her head at the running water and soon ventured a little ways to it. Lowering her head, she drank as much as she wanted and soon moved her gold and white body into the water, splashing herself happily. She just didn't know that Darkness and Dreamer were standing behind her. As soon as she felt the ripples that Darkness had set off when his body entered the water, she turned and nipped at him, which made him laugh and back off. "You know I am still not use to you being back with us."

Some time had passed since that dreadful day, and her thoughts were ever plagued by the girl she had loved so much and the life she had been forcefully driven away from. Today she found herself falling exceedingly deeper into madness.. or a day dream, however you so choose to see it.
The sun was high in the sky and the air was thick and hot. The red mare took a deep, heavy breathe and snorted dully. She stood lazily in the shade of a great oak tree and closed her eyes as her thoughts were in overdrive and completely drowned out all the noises around her. She didn't hear the birds singing happily over head. She didn't hear the busy bee buzzing from one soft white clover flower to another and she certainly did not hear the small band of strange horses that were so near to her at the watering hole.
No, it wasn't until she heard the splashing of water that she abruptly snapped out of her stupor. She lifted her head and flicked her ears, trying to listen to strangers. She hadn't seen a horse since she left the farm and she found it a refreshing sight. She also was unsure of how exactly she should go about introducing herself or IF she should. So, in hopes of grabbing some attention away from there water party, and refusing to leave the comfort of her shade tree, Kachina snorted loudly and pawed heavily at the hard, dry ground. If she got someone's attention she would approach cautiously, but only if she had eyes already upon her.

Light watched Dream and Darkness play and splash as they had once before; before Darkness had been taken from them. She laughed as Darkness tried to dodge their colt, but she heard a noise, someone pawing at the ground. Trotting out of the water, she glanced back at her family, but moved ahead to find the other horse. Letting out a nicker, she wanted to know who was around her. It had been just her, Darkness and Dream for some time now and she knew Dream would love to play with someone other than just his father.
"Hello?" she called trying to pin point where the other was.

Kachina watched as the golden mare emerged from the sparkling water and trotted curiously nearer. She pricked her ears excitedly as the mare called to her. "Hello!" she whickered back. Her heart pounded and adrinaline pushed her to walk out of the woods and into the bright sunlight. She marched forward to eager to meet the glowing stranger half way. "I'm Kachina. I'm also lost"

((Okay I'll make it longer. I haven't played these babies for some time so I am sorry.))

Light smiled. "Hello there." she said as she extended her muzzle to the mare, softly blowing out of her nose. Pulling back she said, "I am Light Over Powers Darkness or Light for short." she said. Then as the other two came to her, she added, "This is my Stallion Darkness Clashes with Light or Darkness and our son Light Dreamer or Dreamer for short." Darkness had his neck arched, hooves prancing off the ground as he circled them, only the circle was really big. "Don't mind Darkness, he is a very high spirited horse and with being out of the BML, he is very happy to be free and with us." she explained. She didn't want her to have the wrong idea about Darkness.
Darkness had smiled at his mare and took off, bucking with his son beside him.

kachina stood and nodded politely. Their names were certainly a mouthful and though she knew she just might be the flashiest mare, she was far from the brightest. She repeated the names in her head so as to not forget them, she did hate to forget names as soon as she heard them she found it quite rude and yet it happened to her all the time, but the stallion's flashy gestures had completely left her blank again. She shot him a sly grin as he strutted by her.
"well, it's very nice to meet you. I was...
Light began to speak again but her voice had faded momentarily as the spotted mare tried to process the commotion around her.
"BLM? what's that?.. Free again?"
The mare looked puzzled. She had never before heard of such a thing, but she had not been born into this land or lifestyle. Her gaze quickly jumped over to the stallion who was now romping about like a youngling who had just been put out to pasture for the first time.
"So you don't have a human?" Her thoughts mulled over this idea for a long moment. Though she hadn't seen hide nor hair of a human in days since she had left the farm, she had never actually concidered the idea of not having one. After all, that had been the life she had always known. Primped and pampered. Petted and washed, and kissed and... In fact, she thought, she had laid eyes on her first human before she even had a chance to look at her mother.
"But then.. who will bring us grain and hay?"

Light now understood more about the mare. "So you do not know how to live in the wide open space?"Light asked. Shaking her head, she said. "No one brings us anything, we have to find it ourselves. If you are good at being lone, the loners survive as well as a herd at times. Darkness and I, we know where to look in the winter and how to break the ice of a river." Turning to Darkness, she knew he had been throwing a fit at those three letters. "The BML is a human word. They gather horses and sell them,where they go from there, it can be good or bad." he said as he tossed his long black and white mane. "They say it helps the land and keeps the herd at an controllable amount, but what they do not realize is it breaks families apart. I was lucky that my son and Light wanted to stay with me when I was free once more."

Darkness now stood beside his mare. "I will gladly answer any questions you have." he said as he laid his head on Light's back.
