Silence.....
Usually, silence didn't bother her at all -she had never heard before in her life, so she had never missed being able to hear anything. But this was a different kind of silence. A lonely, dead silence, one that Autopsy was not enjoying as much as she had before, when she couldn't hear but knew what the others felt and what they were saying even though she could, by no means 'hear' the way they did.
But now she couldn't 'hear' anything. Not other hooves on the ground, nor the vibrations from a horses voice as they talked. She couldn't feel a horses breath on the wind, nor a scent close enough for her to attract. It was the loneliest she had ever felt since being separated from the bulk of the herd on the day of the running, as she called it since she couldn't find a word to describe the burning hot stuff known as fire.
She let out a breath of air, shaking her head as she walked across the river gently. The current was 'loud' against her body, her senses going wild as they all overworked to compensate for the sudden change of environment. It wasn't the first time she had stepped through a river, but the change in the way her body worked with it was always enough to make her slightly freak. The river was too loud for her body, and she couldn't feel any tremors outside of the river, making a sort of box for her way of 'hearing'. If a horse approached her from behind, she would have been able to tell, which made her want to get out faster. She finally trudged to the other side and for a moment breathed a sigh of relief as her senses calmed down, the quietness coming back, and with it, the loneliness.
She shook her head roughly, sighing again. Maybe she should have stayed in the river. At least then she 'hear' something....

Nicca had been watching the mare and noticed she was jump. He was trying to figure out ways to approach her without startling her to much. Finally moving his unusual colored body, he came out of the shadows and slowly made his way to her. He knew he would approach her from where she was facing, so he would not startle her. His ears picked something up and his head shot up, listening, but he finally decided it was the wind he had heard. Dang wind, it always sounded like his girl was calling for him even though he knew it was not right. Moving to soon stand in front of the mare, he hung his head low, his ears perked and started to graze, he wondered if she might not be able to hear since he had known a few horses that couldn't. But how would he tell her his name he wondered. Most of the horses he knew could catch on at some point, but right now he was taking his time and letting her get use to him. She would approach him when she was ready too so Nicca let his tail flick the flies away from himself and waited for the mare to make the first move.

Autopsy didn't have much of a reprieve from the river, her body still dripping with water as she felt the slightest tremors in the ground. They were heavier, which meant it was either a really large female or a heavyset stallion. She scanned around with her eyes until she saw another horse approaching from the shadows. The wind carried the horses scent to her, enough that she could tell that it wasn't a mare but a stallion. Her ears went back slightly, memory serving her only example of what stallions were like. She took a step back as he approached, watching him closely as she allowed her own way of 'hearing' to go to work. His presence didn't seem dangerous at all, his demeanor spoke to her that he wasn't going to hurt her or anything.
She took a small step forward and lightly tapped her hoof once, as a sort of beckoning for him to come a step closer, but slowly so she could watch him closely. Her body language still said she was tense, but her eyes were calm.

Nicca lifted his head and slowly moved forward, taking one step at a time with his head held down and ears forward. It was just as he thought but he remembered how he was taught to deal with horses that were startled and had no way of defending themselves is someone was to sneak up on them. when he reached her, he stopped just a few feet away, waiting to see if she wanted him closer or not. reaching out his muzzle he softly let out a sigh for her to catch more of his scent and know he was not going to harm her at all. The wind whistled again and once more it played tricks to his mind, he knew it was not his girl calling for him. Pawing the ground slightly, he shook his mane out and shifted his head to the side, watching her and letting her know he was not a danger, rather a friend who was too lonely and wanted some company around. "I am Nicca." he said, though he knew she could not hear him.

Autopsy pinned her ears as he stopped, signalling that he shouldn't take any more steps forward. Even though Nicca did most of the possible things he could to keep himself from frightening her, Autopsy was still a bit jittery at the prospect of meeting another horse, especially a stallion. Would he try to hurt her, no matter how gentle he seemed? The wind was beginning to howl, but all that she sensed was that it was picking up speed; the howling would only fall on Nicca's ears. She breathed in his scent, the wind carrying off most of it but she got enough to tell he was a calming type of horse, gentle-spirited, most likely. She bobbed her head while picking up both her front hooves a few inches off the ground in a mini-rear, ears pricked forward and the whole gesture said "Nice to meet you."
When he said his name, Autopsy merely cocked her head slightly. She could tell he was talking, and knew that he was probably speaking his name. Fact was, Autopsy really couldn't tell what he said. She relied more on the vibrations a horse made when they spoke rather phonetics. However, in order to do this and even identify the way the vibration sounded, she would have to be touched the horse, which she had no desire to at the moment.
However, there was one thing she could do herself. She remembered when she was young, how her mother taught her to say her name even though she couldn't hear. It had taken months of copying vibrations and adapting them but she had finally gotten to the point where she could say her name correctly.
"Au...Topsy.......'' She spoke aloud, but unbeknownst to her she dropped the Au, making it sound more like Topsy then Autopsy. It was rather strange for a deaf horse to be speaking, especially one that was born deaf, but she was a fighter, and had tried her hardest to communicate.

Nicca smiled as she said her name and tossed his head saying he understood her. He knew one way to really greet her and soon lowered himself into a bow. Stretching out his left front hoof and tucking the right under him at a bend angle; he also arched his neck, so his nose was against his right leg. When he got up he tried to think of more ways to show he was not going to harm her, but his mind was slow and now with the wind howling, he looked around as his mane flew into his eyes. Catching sight of some trees, he knew at least he had to get a little protection from the wind and soon turned, but looked back at Autopsy and tossed his head to the trees. Lowering his head, he softly and slowly made his way to the cover and decided to stand more on one side than the other so Topsy would feel more comfortable than standing so close to him. His ears shot forward and soon he tucked his legs under him and lowered himself to lay on them, but flopped onto his side.
