History: "Kalliope, look at me." her mother said. Kal raised her head and fearfully looked at her mother. "Who's the father, Kal?" She shook her head. Everyone would hate her if they knew. "Tell me!" her mother screeched. Kal took a step back and sighed. "Cray." the younger buckskin mare mumbled, looking at the ground. "who?" her mother asked. "Cray." Kal said louder, glaring at her mother. "What! That mangy flea bitten stallion? You know how he disgraced you father!" her mother squealed, attracting astonished glances from the other mares. The father of the foal that Kalliope was burdened with was her father's arch enemy- Cray. "Get out of here. Never. Come. Back." her mother said, practically spitting venom at her daughter. Kal turned and began to walk away, head hung low. Her mother ran at her, nipping her flanks. Kal galloped away, crying.
Kal looked down at the little stillborn foal and sobbed. All this trouble, and the colt wasnt even alive. His little life, ended before it began. Why? Why did the Fates hate her so much? Kal screamed at the sky, then broke down in sobs and fell to the ground. No, she would overcome this. She would find a new herd- a better one. And a better stallion. Kal got up, then walked away from the stillborn colt. She walked until she came upon Sunshine River.
