Name: Gypsy Rose
Nickname: Gypsy
Age: 2yr
Breed: Mustang
Height: 14hh
Colour: Orange Dun.
Eye Colour: Brown
Gender: Mare.
Markings: Dorsal Stripe.
History: The mare looked down onto her newborn daughter, then around. A few of the other mares were standing around her, eyes wide in wonder. The mare's daughter, Gypsy Rose, had been born in the dead of winter; much earlier than when the other foals would be born. She nudged her daughter up, onto her feet than pawed away snow and grazed as her daughter suckled. Gypsy laid down on the ground. The mare was afraid she would die of cold so she curled around her daughter, oblivious to the eyes still on her. All she cared about was taking care of her daughter.
Gypsy ran around in the fresh spring grass. She was a yearling now and could run circles around her half brothers and sisters. Gypsy trotted back to her mother, she worried over her. She was getting on in years and was close to giving birth again. When the dun filly got back to where she had last seen her mother, she was nowhere to be found! "Mom?" she called, voice laced with worry.
The dun followed her mother's scent trail and found her in the closest grove of trees. Dead. Gypsy gasped, then started sobbing. Her mother had died during birth, the newborn lost with her. Gypsy raced abck to her herd, calling "Shes dead!" But no one turned their head or looked her way. Her mother had been just another mare, normal to the extreme. The herd's reaction to their most loyal mare's death hardened Gypsy to the reality of life in the wild.
Gypsy Rose turned and trotted away from the herd, determined to make it on her own and not be just like the others, just a yearling. She would be different, she would be herself. Little did Gypsy know she was already different- born in winter, innocent, and having left the herd at the tender age of a year.
Gypsy has been traveling for about a year and now has to fight off stallions because she is now of age. But this dun mare had no wish to be just another mare, like her mother. She doesnt want love, nor foals. She just wants to be herself. Gypsy is in Sunshine River.
