I've been having some difficulties lately, with deciding where to put youngsters. Foals go in Foals obviously; but yearlings and two year olds can get kinda scattered. Sometimes they end up in Foals, sometimes in Lone Horses, sometimes in Mares.... so help me out.

go via general wild horses. young foals such as 1 year olds go in as foals and 2 + go as lone horses. fillies can be placed as mares.
mares will generally stay witha herd till they are about 2-3 years old or untill they are sexually mature and colts get pushed out at around 2 year olds.

Thing with that format is that a lot of people let the colts in their herds stick around past two years, or just plain have a lot of foals. So then you get a very large "loner" category, which makes the herd look a bit unbalanced, especially since the idea of loners for the most part is that they're just that- not quite 100% part of the herd the way the others are, in most cases they're just horses that the lead stallion allows to stay in his territory. I dunno, it seems like people tend to get confused about where to put the horses in their herds, figure a "juvenile" category makes it easier to tell at a glance who is a "child of the herd" and who is a random loner, etc...
