Ooc:Reserved for lilmisspony's Mercury Messenger, but after she posts, anyone's welcome! =]
Elodie walked to the clearing. What's this? I smell mares...and foals too. Where am I? Elodie thought to herself. Elodie had traveled a long way since she was 2 1/2 springs old. She remembered little about her mother and father, she only knew what she had learned when she was a foal. She knew her mother and father were some of the finest Canadian horses in Canada. She remembered her mother had a sweet, melodic voice, and her fathers was a deep, comforting rumble. They were comforting. Then she was taken away and sold as soon as she was weaned. Elodie hadn't thought of them for 2 springs now, she realized. She shook her head. It's this place. This place that smells like mares and foals. It's bringing back memories of them. She thought.
Her chestnut hair shone like a new penny in the spring sunlight. Elodie had just turned 6 years old. She had never had a foal before, never had the chance. She wanted a foal, but could never afford to look after one, since she was just a wanderer. She never stayed in a band of horses for more than one month, because either the lead mares chased her off, or the lead stallions tryed to force-breed her, and she didn't allow it, so she was kicked out of the herds.
She lifted her muzzle and smelled the air around her. She could see many mares and their foals, but one horse stood out to her.
It was a horse that was a silverish color.
Hmm....this one looks different than the rest. Why? Elodie asked herself.
She lifted her head and used her nose to smell what gender this horse was.
Mare? Filly? She looks young. I'll go talk to her.
Elodie loped over to the female horse, stopping when she was four feet away.
Hello. Who are you? I am Elodie.

Mercury was becoming wiser, all of her four years of age, and one year spent here with Komo at her side was teaching her much. She was in perhaps an unique position, horse, and yet, not horse, taught and loved by the wild little Komo. The Wise little Komo, too. It simply ment that although she felt horse, could interact with horse, and be horse, the beautiful silver filly could pull herself away, see horses as they were, what they were. Well, she was learning too.
She Was watching the water of the lake, Komo near by, and she heard another horse approaching. Her first instinct was to run, like the messenger god for which she was named. But, no, she had spent some time with other horses now and she had learnt that it was acceptable to let them approach. So mercury stood, ears twitching, as the mare approached.
Mercury heard a voice, and turned to see a golden mare standing before her. Simple statement, she thought, that means soft mare, not wanting to harm me, and possibly not one of the sharpest horses that have existed. Mercury was immensely proud of herself for being able to deduct this, as she had only recently learnt it from Komo. Mercury allowed a short silence, whilst she thought of a well rounded reply.
Finally, in her strange musical voice, one that seemed to be of the wind in the trees, she said "It is a pleasure to meet you, I hail by the name of Mercury, I am wandering filly, named so for my pelt." Satisfactory, but not enough. She paused thinking of what to comment on, before she finished "I'snt the lake beautiful?". the last comment was more directed out to the lake than at the mare, and she could feel Komo scolding her for that, but Mercury was still young, she needed time to learn.

Elodie was still learning much, and she still did not know not to approach other horses as nicely as she just had. Most horses would either stay where they were, or come up warily.
Elodie saw the young mare tense up, as if to run, but saw the muscles relax. Elodie guessed the young mare knew she meant no harm to her.
Elodie listened as the young mare said her name.
Mercury? Well, it suits you because of your pelt, after all. Elodie listened to the mare comment about the lake.
Elodie hadn't even seen the lake. She looked around, and saw the sun glinting off of the blue waters of a vast lake.
Oh, yes, it is beautiful!
She swung her head back around to Mercury.
Are you by yourself? You look.....young. Although you do look...older than me, as if you've experienced more... Or, as if you're more experienced in the ways of the wild. Why is that? Were you born wild? Elodie asked in her cultured, musical voice. Elodie studied Mercury's body language for anything that may mean she didn't want to be here.
Elodie was 6 years old, but was very uneducated in the ways of the wild. She knew not about what types of other horses to watch out for, which were dangerous, rogues, and which would be friendly. She was a good learner, though. She had learned to stay away from trees and mountain cliffs in cougar country, as she had seen what could happen from some horses in the wild bands she had been in for a while. She had seen how some horses, like Mercury, were wary of her. She didn't see why, though. She didn't think she would pose much of a threat, but then again, she had never seen any rogue or malign horses yet.
The wind blew towards the two mares, and Elodie thought, Male horse.[/b]
Elodie tensed, looking around, for most of her experiences with males hadn't been good.
Mercury? Do you have a colt, or a stallion of your herd nearby? Do you have a herd?

ooc:Do you think it'd be a good idea to bring Komo out, or just keep him hidden? I think it'd be fun to bring him out of hiding. ;]

Mercury was at peace, the lake was her home almost it seemed, it was where she had first arrived when this had become her new home. Mercury did not notice the tenseness of the other mare, for she was till young, and as she looked out at the lake, she had barely even heard the question. Something about colts, and living wild. Yes, she had always been a wild one, this little filly.
Mecury turned her head slowly, as if in a daze, before replying slowly, thinking out each sentence before saying in a voice that resembles the wind among the trees "Born wild. That is what I am. My parents hated the wild, and I suppose that was what made me love it so much. " she took a breath, thinking once more... the colts part "I have no horse friends, just wild friends, who brought me here when things changed."
There was a rustling in the bushes, soft and almost inaudible, like it was nothing other than the wind. Komo. Mercury smiled, he was her greatest and closest friend, never far away, and always ready to advise her. Mercury looked, and saw his head poking above the shrub. His ever watchful eyes focused on the chestnut mare, assessing her. After the last meeting with a mare, that Komo had been so weary of, he had remained in hiding when other horses wer near. But this one seemed confused, dazed and a little tense. She would not hurt him, he was sure.
Komo took a few slow hops out of the bushes, and stretching his legs, he made his wat towards Mercury. Once by her front leg, he rested his paw upon her foreleg, and was greeted with a lick from Mercury. Komo spoke for Mercury "Mercury is too young to have a herd, I am her protector and guardian so long as she wishes it, I keep her safe from colts and other stallions."

Elodie watched, still tense from smelling the male horse that was somewhere around. She heard Mercury reply that she was born wild, and that her parents had hated it. What happened to your parents, Mercury? Why are they not with you? Elodie assessed Mercury's dazed expression, and realized that the young mare had been thinking. About what, Elodie knew not.
Elodie tensed even more, getting ready to flee when she heard a rustling in the bushes, as this is what she had learned from her mother. Flee, or get hurt. Elodie did not know how to fight other horses or animals, so she was normally timid around new horses or places, but Mercury intrigued her, so she had talked to her.
If Elodie had not already been alert and listening, she most likely wouldn't have heard it.
A little creature, like a wallaby, poked his head out before coming out of the bushes. He walked over to Mercury and stood by her. He answered that he was Mercury's protector and guardian.
Elodie thought he would be safe to talk to, considering what he just told Elodie. Hello, I am Elodie. What is your name?
ooc:What color is Komo? And no muse right now...maybe next post. X]

Mercury was not overly sad at the thought of her parents, and loosing them. Well, running away was perhaps more accurate, but she would have had to leave them anyway. Thankfully she had had her friends to rescue her.
No tears were leaked, no sighs uttered, but Mercury became wistful, and began to look across the lake again, this time with such an intensity that one would think that she was trying to see horses on the other side. Or perhaps, even, the other side of the worls, far out of sight. Her voice, too, as she spoke, sounded incredibly distant, as if, it was already on the horison searching for what mercury could not see. "My parents and I were... different. I loved them dearly, but they were not like me. The wanted to go back to the humans, and I didn't, so I ran. I still don't know what happened to them". It was a simple, truthful statement, and mercury was not ashamed to admit her running away, for had she remained with her parents, things would have changed for the worse.
Komo looked from one horse to the other with his deep soulful eyes, in thought. It was all Komo had to rely upon really, as he was small, and not exactly strong. Again with the questions, it was the reason that he had taken to hiding, so many horses had never seen him before, and questions forever ensued. Although Komo liked to not be disturbed, he was always a polite and curteous creature when he was. His blood did not run in such a way that made him snappy and angry, the elders would have never allowed that. Komo also looked over the lake, as he spoke "Names have never been important, Elodie, But I run by the name of Komo."
Silence ensued, and mercury snapped out of her daze long enough to focus on the mare fully, and ask as a polite question as she could. This whole communication with horses thing was becoming most enjoyable, she thought "How have you come to be here, Elodie?"

Elodie watched Mercury look back over at the lake, and when Mercury spoke, it sounded almost as if she were in a different world, there, but at the same time, not there with the wallaby and Elodie. Mercury told Elodie of her parents and herself. Elodie learned Mercury and her parents were different. So, you were born wild, and is it that you just didn't trust humans? Or is it that you were just too different from your parents and wanted to rebel against them?
The wallaby spoke his name.
Hello, Komo.
Mercury focused her attention back on Elodie, asking how she had gotten to be at this place, this beautiful landscape.
Elodie thought for a moment. Where to start? So many things have transpired from when I was still a filly until now......I might as well tell her the whole story from beginning to end..
Elodie spoke, choosing her words carefully, Well, my parents were.....domesticated. So was I. I was sold at the age of 1 1/2 to a man. He was to use me for....what humans call 'competitions'. I was on my way to a man that would, as the humans call it, 'train' me for the competitions. The strange, metal box that was carrying me opened, and I saw it as a chance to get away. I jumped out, scraping myself up a little. I haven't seen a human, or my parents, since that day. I was 2 springs old by then. I wandered from horse band to horse band, but either they didn't suit me, or I was kicked out by the lead stallion or mare in the band. I am still very naive in many ways, although I've been in the wild for....4 springs. I don't know how I came to be here. As I said, I wandered. I never really had a... set path. I just went where I felt like going. And it led me here.
Elodie looked out over the lake and her surroundings. The ground was green, with maybe just a hint of snow from winter on the ground. The lake sparkled in the sunlight. Foals were playing in the shallows.
Elodie sighed. What is this place? It's so....peaceful. Tranquil. Beautiful.

Too many questions, and too much speech for Komo to enjoy. He let the waves wash over him, ignoring the speech, but still, in some sort of way, comprehending the facts that were told. Eventually, it would be important, all information was in some way.
Mercury, too, tried to listen intently, and to her credit, she understood and interpreted most of the information. It was by far the longest amount of talking she had ever heard another horse say. Boxes, people, competition, what a strange life. Mercury could not begin to comprehend the other world, the other life that her parents had so happily left for.
But Mercury had stayed on, she had had to stay on, it was that simple. She was no rebel, in fact the word was completely foregin to her. Mercury seemed a little more focused once the mare mentioned the lake , and her eyes shone a little more brightly. She had fallen in the lake the first time she had been here, and swam in it to the amusement of the others. As best as she could, she answered the mare "I just couldn't go, and leave what I loved. It was that simple. I have never seen a human, and I don't want to give up what I have to do so." Komo had told her how the humand would be after her in a heart beat if she was ever seen, purely because of hr unique colouring. Although Mercury had never hated humans, she had no desire to live the life of her parents.
Mercury looked across the lake once more, as she answered the mare "it is the lake, sillly.... just a special quiet place where mares can be at peace.
