Cassanova gleefully trotted into the river terra, watching the icy cold water snake it's way along. Nature marveled the gray and white stallion, it always did. A quick sniff told him that this was the claiming terra, where he could possibly find a mare. Snow decorated his pelt beautifully, little flakes of white powder getting caught to his lashes. Ahead was a tree, foliage covered with the white stuff, often falling to the ground if the wind blew hard enough. He swiftly made his way over there, heartbeat slowing after his run here. Tiredness took over, his eyelids battered before drifting off into a light sleep.
He awoke with a start. Somewhere was the crunching of snow, telling him that another horse was near. Hopefully a mare.
Cassanova called out a bit nervously. "Hello?"

Strega was still giggling to herself slightly from Elding and her talking and making jokes. She had gone a bit ahead while Elding stayed behind for a few minutes to get a drink from the river. Strega stopped to wait for Elding when her hoof snapped a twig hidden under the soft powdery snow. She suddenly caught the scent of another stallion and nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard a nervous 'hello' from somewhere down by the river. Strega cautiously inched forward and peeked from behind a big tree to see a large stallion half under a snow-covered tree. Strega could only stare for a few moments. Then, she thought about what to do. She could quietly slink back to Elding, or go right up to the stallion. But Elding might get a little mad or a fight could erupt. But Strega didn't want to frighten the stallion so she slowly walked up to him. "Hello there," said Strega politely. "I hope I didn't scare you. I am Strega. Who might you be?" but before the stallion could answer Strega saw the tree he was standing under quivering with the weight of the snow. Strega sprang into action. She lurched forward and pushed the stallion out of the way just in time. Strega looked back to see about two hundred pounds of snow where the stallion had just been standing less than a second ago.

A cool breeze swept through the newly found terra. There was minimal snow nowm the effects of spring were taking over. Cassanova smiled to himself. scaredy cat He opened his muzzle to reply to the mare, but it was not ment to be. The dapple grey stallion found mimself being tackled by the mysterious mare as an avalanche of fresh, white snow dumped itseself where he had been standing. The stallion rose, helping the mare rise also. "Thank-you, Strega. I owe you." He shook himself to rid of the snow. "I am Cassanova. Pleasure to meet you!"

Strega got up as quick as she could, embaressment spreading all over. She had just tackled a total stranger! Strega shook herself, snow jumping off her dun coat. " Hello, Cassanaova. Sorry about that. I didn't mean to hurt you or anything...." Strega hid her face a little. She was so embaressed! " So Cassanova, how long have you been here?" Strega tried to start some conversation, hoping that Cassanova would take it as an apology. She felt really bad, hoping she hadn't bruised the stallion, for the ground was rock hard, frozen with a hard crust of ice.

He laughed inwardly at her embarrassment. Limbs stretched themselves out, warming the stallion up intensely. "Don't worry about it, you didn't hurt me." The dapple grey took a deep breath in. The mare, Strega, smelt of other horses, and a stallion. Which meant she was claimed. Oh well, not to worry. He told himself. A maw opened, and magical words flew out like a tiny bird. "I am new here, I claimed some land and am looking for a lead." Cassanova mused silently to himself, wondering what would happen next.

Elding raised his head from the free-flowing river, water droplets dripping from his muzzle. It was a refreshing drink- no doubt the river at home would be fast and full by now as well. Home... it never felt like home, but it would have to do, seeing as there were no evergreen forests around. The stallion heard voices, and trotted up the bank away from the rapids, towards the sounds. He neighed a greeting as he spotted the pair of conversationalists, stopping beside the mare and giving her a nuzzle. "I am Elding," he rumbled. "What do I call you?"

He picked up the hint of protectiveness from the stallion. Who wouldn't want to protect his mare? The dapple gray stud had no intentions of stealing his mare, he had never been taught how to fight properly. A swift spring breeze ruffled his lead pelt, the sun warming him up nicely. Cassanova nodded his head towards the stud, just to be polite. "Pleasure, Elding. I'm Cassanova." An odd silence struck the three. He thought of striking up a conversation. "I was just thanking your missers here, she saved my life, you know. You should be proud of her."

Strega looked a little startled. She though Cassanova had been here a while. Silly me she thought to herself. "Oh, well that's nice...." Strega wasn't really sure of what to say. This stallion was looking for a mare, she was a mare, she had a stallion, he was not to far away, but still pretty far away. Strega didn't know what else to say. She was rescued when she heard footsteps behind her and turned around to find Elding by her side. " Well, hello Elding." Strega nuzzled her black beauty of a stallion back. " How nice to see you again."

"And the same to you, my dear," Elding said affectionately, nuzzling Strega. Raising his head again, he faced Cassanova and replied, "Strega is wonderful, to say I'm proud is an understatement. Likewise for our daughters, the both of them, they get it from their mother." The stocky stallion wasn't extraordinarily tall, but he still emanated an air of being fairly large, like all of his breed. "But tell me, what were you in danger from? I go to the river and when I come back, she's already saved a life. And I'm sure you have some sort of story to tell about yourself." Elding loved a good yarn, and was quite happy listening to others talk about themselves.

He nodded, but just as his maw reached the sky, he smelt an aroma like not other. He felt obligated to search it out, to see what it belonged to. The stallion came back to earth. "I was standing below that tree over there, which then, was heavy with fresh snow. It was about to dump it all on myself when your lady here jumped out and pushed us out of the way." Cassanova tried his best to pay attention to the couple, but the mystery scent was baffling him. He lifted his head once more. "Which I am grateful for. But, I'm afraid I have to leave. Someone is calling me, and I would hate to keep them waiting. So I bid farewell to your two, and many thanks once more for saving my life, Strega." And with that, he turned and made way to the mysterious smell. Who knows what he would find?
