Name: Terrwyn
Age: 11
Breed: Welsh Cob x Thoroughbred (Welsh Cob Sport Horse)
Height: 14.2 hh
Colour: Chestnut
Eye Colour: Hazel
Gender: Mare
Markings: White splotch on forehead.
Personality: Sweet, patient, understanding, but never backs down from any challenge, no matter the stakes. Competitive, but not sly; does not find accomplishment in cheating.
History:
For a horse like Terrwyn, life was gorgeous. Her stay at the local stables was beyond heaven, and was treated with respect from human and horse alike. Her prestige was, without a doubt, well-known throughout most of her competition, but present and future. There was no jump too high or speed to fast for Terrwyn, the future breed for competition. She was bred for this. It was in her blood. But...she never let much of it go to her head, and always stayed humble, enjoying the sweet things in life. She refused to be a spoiled brat.
With training, soon competition after competition Terrwyn took home the gold without effort, and people began to grow envious of her continuous winnings. Then, a plan to steal her and break her down was set in motion.
One night, while the mare was dozing in her stall, a handful of humans came and broke her stall door down. They roped her, and hauled her outside towards their trailer, where they roughly shoved her inside and slammed the door. It was cold and dark, leaving Terrwyn confused and without proper direction if she were to escape and try to get home. It was a long, painful ride, but when they finally released her she could have only hoped for a longer ride.
They led her to a ring on the outskirts of their run down ranch, and staked her in the middle. Before long, the humans released two stallions upon each other, their mouths foaming with rage as they dug their hooves into the other's flesh without remorse. They looked as though they were going mad. Terrwyn, for the first time in her life, was scared to death. Finally, after what seemed like hours of relentless fighting, one stallion fell into the bloodied dirt and never came to stand again. The humans whispered to themselves as they dragged the carcass out of the pen.
"Let me out of here!" Terrwyn cried meekly as she yanked on the rope, which only dug into her soft face with every pull.
A laugh came from behind her. "Oh, they will. But only once I'm through with you."
The stallion came and mounted her, leaving her no choice but to let him do his horrible deed. Tears welled in her eyes as he dismounted and walked away cackling as though she were nothing but a form of hormonal release. This was not how she wanted things to be...with a small whinny, the mare fell to the ground and waited to be taken away.
For months, her life remained the same; stallions fought, one survived, and the survivor mounted her. Many times she was caught in the crossfire, and received many cuts and bruises. If she were pregnant, it would be lucky to be alive with the bashing she was given consistently. Though...many times she hoped to not be the bearer of one of these rogue horses' foals. What a shame it would be. She lived in a world of darkness and what seemed to be a never ending cycle.
Then...the light burst through. One day, while the humans were attempting to tie her to the post, they left the pen gate open. With one quick adrenaline rush, Terrwyn fought against the humans, killing one and severely injuring the other three. She did not look back as she took off through the gate and into the woods, leaving the horrid world that she hoped would one day vanish from her memory forever.
