History:
She had trusted him… Until the day he left her. On that the dreadful day…. White Dove grazed on the green grass that made her taste buds tingle every time she munched a bite. Her mane raised lightly in the pleasant summer breeze. Her tail swayed from side to side eradicating herself of the pesky flies. She raised her striking head, her features breaking into a soft smile, as her beautiful stallion returned from his endless travels. He leaped proudly down the peak that over looked her, seductively circling her. The white mare nickered softly as his velvet muzzle touched with hers. Her heart swelled with utter devotion for the stallion. For a moment she was in pure heaven, sharing the precious moment with her stallion, she inhaled deeply. She tensed dramatically, for her crescents were filled with an eccentric scent, no; it could not be? Another mare? She opened her mouth to demand answers but before she could talk, sweet and muscular tone melted in her audits. “I love you my sweet Dove.” Yet again, her heart amplified all his words and she forgot all about that mare has she leaned gently into him. She looked down feeling her cheeks run hot, she had to ask him now, for if she didn’t he would be lost forever, to the other one.
“I want a foal” her words came out trivial and shrill compared to his booming accents. She felt him sharply exhale, she braced herself to be more mortified then she already was feeling. The stallion put his muzzle in her thick tresses before he circled once again, those cerulean orbs watching her every move, in that way when it felt like they were the only two horses in the world. She trusted him so much, why should she stop now? The scent would have just have been a passing mare, a friend, a family member. He brushed against her flanks, a little buzzing of joy flickered in her stomach, he was going to grant her wish, they were going to be a family. He stopped behind her his legs bunching before he reared, quickly covering her. It was not passionate like she had imagined for so many years. He landed heavily on all four pistons, he stood lazily like nothing a had happened, he was glancing around the territory, perhaps he had smelt an intruder? White Dove turned and shuffled over to him, her first time with her love, she felt like she was invisible. He turned rudely away from her, placing his muzzle to the grass and began to graze, not a word slipping past his lips. She stood there faithfully, not all hope defused. He must be tired? She nudged him again, her heart sinking when she received no reply. Her eyes filled with tears, their glossy cases never leaving him. Abruptly, he announced that he was going to go and search over the territory. She nodded slowly watching him closely as he galloped off into the distance.
On impulse she started at a walk until her strong pistons were pumping faster and faster. She was following him, contently hoping that he really was checking over the territory. She galloped on and on, her lungs were gasping for air and she wanted to halt, turn back and lay in a tight ball, but she had to go on. She had to know, he wouldn’t actually leave her for another mare, he wouldn’t. Her legs drew to a sharp trot as he slowed. To avoid being seen she dived behind a mighty bolder, her head crouched to the side. She attempted to get a hold on her breathing, her heart thundering a hundred paces, she was just making this all up in her head surely? Then that’s when she saw her. She was round her stomach bulged out like a separate being. The stallion, HER stallion, smothered the filthy mare in affectionate kisses. Sniffing her stomach happily, before moving his muzzle into her mane where he sat with his eyes closed, a sweet song humming from his dial.
Dove backed away from the couple, her chest cleaving in two. No, no, no. This could not be happening. Her hooves clattered backwards, she had to get away, in her confusion she slipped on some fragmented rocks. The indicative stallion snapped his head protectively at the noise and he saw her. Hot tears distorted her vision, she turned to face the traitor “You had my heart! You were my universe!” She screamed at him, the emotions bursting from her mind. Her hooves turned her away from the stallion; she had to get away from her. When she reached the meadow that she had shared with her stallion so many times, the night had turned to darkness, its wondrous silence eloping her. Her once strong pistons shook violently, her breathing short and rapid. Dried blood lined her grey pelt from where she had brutally cut herself in her furry to get away. She was unsure of what had caused the bleeding. Maybe it was the trees that pulled at her has she galloped by in exhilaration? Or when she slipped on those rocks and they dug into her coat when she fallen? Whatever it was the pain had exhausted her and she was shaking like crazy. She collapsed into the long grass no longer able to hold herself up, she let the darkness swallow her.
The sun glared insensitively into her eyes, as she shifted her muzzle reached out touching something soft and his sweet and safe aroma filled her nostrils once more. She smiled contently snuggling closer, everything was normal again. She waited for a moment more, allowing the morning sun to warm her. No, the terrible nightmare had begun again. Her red stained eyes flashed open, she scrabbled to her hooves. The stallion standing right behind her. Had he lay beside her all night? Why? Why was HE here? She turned around her teeth bared piously at him “Stay away from me!” her voice was full of hatred and anger. He gazed back at her, his eyes watching her intently, a exasperated sigh left his lips“ I was going to tell you.” He whined miserably.
White Dove snapped at the air, laughing hysterically “When!? When were you going to tell me?! Why not before we shared love? Feel proud now do we? Making me birth to some basted child?!” tear dropped at a consent from her eyes again. “Why would you do this to me? I loved you! You loved me!” Her voice screeching to the heavens. The stallion sneered at her, his voice turning low and cold like she had never heard before “Stupid mare. I never love or cared for you.” Shock took hold of her body and she stopped pacing turning to face him.
“Wha…what do you mean?” She paused taking in his biting words. “What I just a toy for you?” she snapped, she couldn’t breath-catch her breath-her world was crashing down around her-suffocating her. She was defeated. What she could she say to the stallion? She had loved and trusted him, and he had betrayed her. He had played her for all she was. She was dying gradually and excruciatingly inside, everything she thought she had known…was nothing to her. It had never been real.
She watched , frozen in her place, as the mare he had previously loved sauntered gracefully down from the hill. She glanced at White Dove has calmly has the stallion did. The traitorous mare nuzzling her stallion and they both watched her, their dark eyes boring into her skull. Felling like an outsider, a fool, a joke. She drew away “I hope your both very happy when you end up in hell.” She spat the words, turning and leaving the situation before she lashed out with her hooves. How could she have been so naïve? Trusted him? Loved him? Cared for him? She turned slowly around in a zombie like trance. Wandering alone and broken inside, she moved in silence for hours, her stomach growling in hunger. This was how it was going to be now, she would be alone forever.
In the passing months, her stomach grew wider and wider, no matter how she tried to rid of his spawn. No thoughts enter her innocent mind, she travelled forever in silence nothing more than a ghost to the world. She began to meet other horses as she walked, searched deep inside to see that none cared about her. None of them ever did. Why would they even consider her?
Then it was time. She gasped in terrible pain one night, when she was hiking as usual through a clear thicket. Pain lashed its rotten tongue inside her, its barbed tongue crawling over her tender stomach. She forced herself to walk on; groaning, moaning and cringing. She was not ready for this, she could not face the perfect replica of him. She gave way, landing on the ground with a loud grunt. The hours came and went and after all the pain, she gave birth to a beautiful ebony filly. Her heart clattered with pride, finally something to call her own. It was not the perfect image of him she had so grievously imagined. A river flowed from her eyes that night, she was not alone anymore.
6 years later
Jupiter raised her beautiful carved head watching her mother has she walked gracefully over to a lone stallion down by the river drinking hungrily. Six years had passed and gone and now the elder mare was not at all okay, she had loved her daughter but shortly after her birth she once more drew withdrawn from all society. She wanted, no needed to find someone to make all the hurt and pain go away. White Dove had told her daughter about her father, what was the use of hiding it? Hate had taken hold of the obsidian mare; she had seeked out all information on her lost father from passing strangers. Guilt overtook the young mare, for she had not told her mother but they were heading in the way of where her father was last seen. The stallion raised their head and White Dove attempted to seduce the stallion. Jupiter rolled her eyes as she watched her mother, she began grazing lazily, pulling at the loose strands. Then she heard the upmost commotion. The stallion pushed her mother roughly away “Get away from me your crazy!” he was yelling, backing up into the river as her mother advanced towards him. Jupiter sped over, leaping over the distance before standing directly in front of her mother, Jupiter snorted protectively into his face “Don’t you dare touch her!” her words spitting from her dial like poison. The stallion flicked a thorn at the young ones bravery, he watched her carefully for a moment and she was not worth killing. Turning, shaking his head and muttering to himself, he trotted off. “Come on.” Jupiter grumbled to her mother, nudging the elder mare’s shoulder.
So the journey continued for a few more days, their pace steady. White Dove stopped unexpectedly; a great summit loomed over the two mares. “W-where are we Jupiter?” Dover motioned her head around the area. Her mouth dropped and her eyes narrowed “I told you the story! And I told you I never wanted to return to this place!” she snorted angrily. Jupiter flicked her ears backwards acknowledging her mother tone. Ignoring her comments, she quickly trotted over the peak stopping to look around. There were a few mares and their offspring scattered around, the nearest raising their heads and whickering in welcoming. A violent whinny caused her head to snap up from the otherwise peaceful scene. In a thundering of hoof beats, and low snorting there he stood her father.
White Dove shuffled over to her daughter, nuzzling into Jupiter. She eyed the stallion that had broken her heart so many years ago. He stopped and they both stared into each other eyes recognition freezing him to the spot. He paused and took a few steps forwards “White Dove; What are you doing here?” he whispered in shock. White Dove did not answer all the pain bulleting back through her body, her expression said all the words she needed too. Jupiter licked her cracked lips, watching as the pain her father had caused shook her mother’s bodice. She suddenly felt small but courage began to fuzz in the pit of her stomach. White Dove backed up and galloped down the ridge, the emotion overtaking her, she could not stand it any longer, seeing him again. Jupiter understood her mother’s wishes, besides she would not go far without her. Her father coolly watched her mother canter away, those dark eye that held only lies following her panicked escape. He then turned to Jupiter, “Who are you?” he asked bluntly, pawing at the ground in impatience. Jupiter snorted and cracked her tail against her hocks “I am your daughter.” Jupiter answered testily back before continuing “But you would not know that, would you? You left my mother alone! You fool!” all the shyness imploded and she snapped her teeth at her father. Her hooves took her a few metres forward “What kind of stallion does that to mare that cares about you so much? You hurt her so badly!” Jupiter spat, watching him roll his eyes callously, that only fuelled her anger.
Her father paused, his eyes staring at the ground, many of his mares had now journeyed to find out what all the fuss was about. His head snapped up, watching his mares, his body language tensing, he drew close to Jupiter “Leave now and never come back. If I ever see your sorry face again, or hers for that matter, I will kill you both.” He whispered fiercely in her ear. His eyes glanced around to the closer mares yet again, So that what all he cared about; his looks. “You coward!” Jupiter hissed her voice rising an octave. “You will never get to my mother. You need to get through me first.” the mare snorted through gritted teeth. The stallion snorted, almost holding back laughter “You? You could do nothing to me, mare.” He was getting more and more frustrated as his mares came closer. He advanced forwards skidding to a halt only centre metres away from Jupiter “I give you one last chance to go. N-O-W!” his voice shaking the heaven, nostrils flaring to full moon. Jupiter was not going. The only way for her to depart these lands was her death. She reared up, her obsidian pelt shimmer off the sun last rays, as she screamed her challenge.
The stallion scrapped his hooves along the tough terra, pulling great sections of the earth, she was making him look bad. Jupiter landed, cantering forward swerving before she collided with her father, her hooves sliding to a halt. He smiled pitilessly there would be only one way to settle this then. His lungs produced a low rasping whinny in reply to her challenge. As she reared again her front hooves collided with her father’s, both horses attempting to tear the flesh from the opponent. Her hooves clatter down on her father’s shoulder producing a harsh cracking, which made her smile as the stallion bellowed out in pain. He turned grabbing her mane in his jaw, he pulled her off him and slammed her on the ground, his body weight about to come tumbling down on her. Jupiter kicked up over and over, screeching when he grabbed her fetlock and tore a chunk off. She bolted out in the upmost distress, blood sprinkling over the floor. The noise was tremendous, her father’s mare whinnying out in barbarity. As she did so, her hoof caught his eye sharply, a shrill gasp echoed the plains, as red tear ran unsettlingly down his face. Jupiter turned over attempting to wildly scrabble to her blood-stained hooves. She rammed into him with all the power she could manage, his vision now distorted, his pistons gave way leaving him a helpless pile on the ground.
Jupiter felt herself stop and stare at her father; there was no more noise in the air. Not even the rustling of the leave, the creak of a branch, the creak of a cricket. It was if time stood still for that moment. And then she reared for the last time, she was doing this for her mother, some demon inside her chuckled coldheartedly; she was losing all sense of reason. There was only death now. He would be gone; the pain would be gone. Her hooves struck his skull with an unimaginable force, an eruption of blood staining the lands around them. What had she done? Why had she done it? Something grabbed her mane a reeled her back into reality.
She fell on the ground, hysterical laugher emitted from her dial, her mother released her mane go. “What were you thinking my child?!” she screeched in alarm, her oculi glaring at the scarlet stains that covered her daughter’s coat. Jupiter just smiled eerily up at her mother “He needed to die mummy.”
