Mother, you are crazy. How can I even go on in this place? The Plains horses do not accept me and the Canyon horses look at me like I am crazy. Even Somber Night will not play with me and she is adopted into the Whisper Herd. Yes, I know. Do not associate with the two herds. But I want to play! No, mother, I have not had dreams like you. Who would do that stuff beside you?
The beautiful paint filly was a reject. Her mother was descended from the lines of the first prophetess that spoke of a Black Demon, a tragic end of a great warriour. But Lark didn't believe in that malarky. How did that make any sense? She was a down to earth filly that had a crazy mother. Even the bachelors didn't want her. But her mother had vanished last week. Mother was prone to leaving, but her words prompted Lark to believe that mother was not coming back. At least she could hide her family lines now. Although she truly didn't know who her sire was. Mother never told.
But then the dreams started. A flashy black colt. Blind. A dark grulla filly. Death. The dreams frightened her badly, but she wouldn't give in to believing that this was her role, her destiny as mother had spoken of to her in the past. Maybe if she just ran away.
