Aya quickly and proudly entered the land of her new mate, her young daughter following behind her. Aya would be one of the side mares in the herd, and her daughter would be an adoptive foal. Or at least, this is what Aya planned. She wasn't a snob, nor was she a drama queen. She would sit nicely in her sideline spot, out of the lead mares way. And Desert would follow Aya's lead for sure.

A blot of black appeared on the pale horizon of White Meadows, just arriving from a brief drink at the Watering Hole. The fiery colors of fall didn't seem to have much of an effect on his terra, snow-white all year around. With a sweep of his dark eyes, he caught on two figures... one a familiar, small dun, but the other quite new... a foal, now doubt.
Cermak set off at a trot towards the two, calling out lightly, "Fine morning, Aya, little one. I hope you are settling in well?" Aya had only arrived in their herd recently, and the stallion had been looking forward the meeting the foal she told him about when he first met her... the foal she birthed before she had come here.
A pretty black Friesian mare, clearly in her prime, was only a few steps behind her stallion, trotting gracefully. Head held high but not too high, it was clear of her status... she was lead mare, and a fine one as well, although she was not haughty about it.
She was taller than Cermak was, but she was leggy and her frame was delicate and lightly muscled, while her stallion was stocky and solid. Two horses that could not have been more different, and yet had fallen in love. Life was indeed one strange occurrence after another.
"A fine morning, Aya!" she called lightly down to the familiar dun mare, before twisting slightly to look over her shoulder. "Hurry along now, dear."
A small filly, with a light, feathery build like her mother, was almost cantering in order to keep up with her mother's brisk pace. Kira saw Aya and the filly behind her, and immediately her dark eyes lit up with curiosity and excitement. Another playmate was always a welcome thing.
A small family was staying with the herd at the moment... stallion, mare, and daughter. The filly, Delight, had been Kira's best friend and playmate for the past few months, but as always, the outgoing little one wanted to meet more foals. No one could keep the friendly social butterfly from chattering away when she was given the chance.

(ooc: I think when Cayla had them they met Aya and Desert.)
Aya nodded. "Hello again." She said, smiling. Desert looked over that the other filly. A new sister, or in the very least, a friend. Aya nuzzled her daughter, before nudging her, encouraging her ot go play. She would take care of the adult business. "Cermak, this is my daughter, Desert." She said just as the foal ran off to investigate the other filly.

Celtic Rose
The Arabian mare stood away from the small group of horses and the two foals. Her eyes burned as she had her head held painfully high in order to see. She stood out as did all of the herd here; except Misty Dawn of course.
Now standing still; not a muscle moving she watched silently; lately she had been wondering further and further from the herd; keeping to herself and no longer going to either lead mare nor stallion if she was in need of anything.
She was fat now; she knew that, no longer did her burnt color ripple over her hard muscles; now she was an awkward wobbling mare. Her stomach was heavy now; distinct with pregnancy.
He legs, back and neck constantly ached; and if she moved swifter than a an awkward trot there was a stabbing pain in her stomach; she feared that if she was to move swiftly - the foal would be lost, so she had remained quiet and alone. now standing watching them intently, she wondered as always now a days if she really belonged here, in this quiet herd; where not much trouble fell upon them.

The Appaloosa stallion smiled, touching his nose gently to Aya's side. "She is a pretty young filly, isn't she?" he said softly so that just Aya and Antoinette could hear, although his lead was tactful enough to pretend she didn't. "She must take after her mother." He did not ask about Desert's father... he knew that mares were sometimes entitled to their secrets, and that he had no right to know them.
The elegant black mare nudged her daughter slightly. "Go on," she said, smiling. "Go on, go play with Desert. She's part of our family now, like Delight is." Of course, since Kira didn't really understand, Antoinette hadn't yet told Kira that Delight might not be a part of their family forever, as she and her parents weren't technically part of the herd... but she had long decided to merely let her daughter play while she could with her friend.
Turning slightly, she caught Celtic Rose's fiery-colored figure on the horizon, and recognized a roundness in her stomach. Smiling, she called, "Come, Rose, come and meet Aya's daughter, Desert!" Cermak turned his dark eyes to the horizon where his mare was, and nickered lightly to her.
The leggy black filly, reached her nose out to Desert, eager for yet another playmate. "Hi, my name is Kira!" she said eagerly, dark eyes bright with curiosity and excitement. "Your name is Desert, right? Why haven't I met you before? Because your mother is Aunty Aya, right? But Aunty Aya has been with us for a little bit! So why haven't I seen you before?" As usual, the curious little filly was full to bursting with chatter and questions.

(ooc: Desert is going ot be put up for adoption, so I don't really know how I should answer this. Maybe one last go?)
Aya nodded, her head bobbing. "Yes indeed, she is. She looks like me, but I swear, she is more like her father." She said. She had surprised herself there, Aya had always put on the sad face when she thought of Desert's Father, but for the first time, she could smile about the thought of him. The history was long, but the short story was, or the one that Aya told Desert goes: "I loved him very much, but in the end, it didn't last." And with that, the little foal would stand quiet, unsure.
Desert nibbled at the other foals' ears, pulling on one slightly. "I was in the foal fields, my mother wanted ot keep me safe." She said, before frolicking few feet away. "I think we've met before."

Celtic Rose
Celtic moved from her place; she swished her tail irritably at the flies that were annoying her; she moved, her stomach wobbling uncontrollably. As she moved from her higher place to their lower, she stumbled and fell.
Scrambling to her feet once again she sighed deeply before shaking herself free of dust. Now she moved more carefully; watching were she put each foot to make sure she didn't fall once more.

[OOC: I'll adopt her! So she can still be in the herd, you know ] Cermak touched his nose gently to Aya's side. "Then her father must have been a very handsome and charming stallion indeed," he said cheerfully, "For undoubtedly she will grow to be a beautiful mare." Turning, he saw Celtic Rose stumble, and for a moment his regal face creased in worry. He wasn't entirely sure how she had been adjusting to pregnancy, for it was clear that she was unused to her round and cumbersome belly. "Are you all right, my dear?" he called lightly, turning away from the others for a moment. The Friesian mare smiled graciously. "I hope she comes to meet her father one day," Antoinette said lightly, trotting to Aya's side. "Of course, she will be curious, have grown up without one... no doubt she will attempt and look for him. I think it would be best for both of them if she got to see him... at least once." It was not within the mare's power to ensure it, but she was an older mare and had been through much, as the scar on her wither proved. She herself had always wondered who her father was, having never met him, and remembered going to extreme measures in order to, perhaps, meet him someday.
However, she turned her mind away from the memories. She had been young and foolish then.The little filly tilted her head, first to one side, then the other, as she studied her new playmate. "I don't know..." she said slowly, after awhile. "I don't think I remember meeting you anywhere before. But, I have been to Foal Fields before... it is very pleasant there, isn't it?" Turning away from Desert for a moment, she wondered idly where Delight was. Kira was sure that her playmate would have loved to meet their newest herd member.

Aya shook her head. "She will never get to meet him. He's dead." She said watching the foal. She said this without thinking, no emotion tore at her, she had blocked it so many times. She was fine that others knew her past, it was nothing to be ashamed of. She would be fine, just as long as no stallion threatened her or her daughter, the only remaint of the stallion she had loved.

Celtic Rose
Celtic Rose moved towards them; she was deep and heavy in her stomach; she looked like she was carrying either a very large foal or two. She moved over to Cermak and touched her nose to his hindquarters and then moved to Antoinette and touched her muzzle to her.
"forgive me for not coming sooner" she said quietly; she had withdrawn alot through her pregnancy, her spirit was still there, but to the lack or agility she prevented it from showing, her eyes however now looked at the mare and foal with some interest; she couldn't wait to get the birthing process over and a bonny little foal around.

[OOC: That is true, that is true xD Ah well]
Cermak gently touched his nose to the dun mare, and said softly, "Then I hope she will be able to find enough of a father in me. I am sorry... for your loss."
The Appaloosa respectfully stepped away from Aya for a moment, wondering if she would like some privacy. But at the sound of a surprisingly soft voice, his head turned, and he smiled at Celtic Rose, usually so bright and energetic. He nuzzled her affectionately before calling out to his two daughters... one by blood, one by adoption.
"Kira, you know what is polite... come over here and greet Aunt Rose!" The black-and-white stallion took the upbringing of his daughter... now of his daughters... quite seriously, usually.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Antoinette smiled. "There is nothing to be sorry for in seeking a bit of privacy now and again," she told the chestnut, smiling. Almost subconsciously, she touched her nose to the mare's swelling stomach. The Friesian herself never remembered ever being to large in pregnancy, one year ago when Kira was not yet born... and yet, she could not help but notice that Celtic Rose was such a pretty and spirited mare, even when she was so hindered by pregnancy. A mare deserving of a lead position, or an adventurous, action-filled life... far from the rather slow, but peaceful lifestyle led in White Meadows. There was usually quite a bit of ruckus over at Tequila Action's herd, but her stallion had always been resolute about keeping them out of it, and of late their herd had fallen fairly silent as well.
"You should get out more often, Rose," she said softly, with a bit of a smile. "I think you could use it."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The black filly heard her father's call, and set off at a slightly wobbly canter to greet Rose. After a moment, though, she realized that her newest playmate was not right beside her, and she cast a glance over her shoulder to see Desert following more cautiously, more tentatively. The little one skidded to a stop, smiling, and waited for her new friend to catch up, and together they galloped up to the Arabian mare, as in step with each other as if they were twins.
"This is Aunt Rose," Kira said brightly to Desert. "She's like your mom... she's a mare in our family." Turning to Aunt Rose, she said briskly, "Aunty Rosie, this is Desert, Aunty Aya's daughter!" However, at closer inspection, she noticed that the mare's stomach had swelled surprisingly.
She knew about the concept of pregnancy, but being a filly, she had to ask...
"Will it be a filly or a colt, Aunty Rosie?" she asked, her eyes bright with curiosity. "I hope it's a girl, because I don't really want a brother! I think a brother might be annoying. But, do you want a colt? Because then I'm going to have to have a brother, and-" However, she was soon cut off by the fact that her mother, who stood with her father behind Aunt Rose, was laughing.
"What? What's funny, Mother?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Desert smiled tentatively at the slightly scary black and white stallion who Kira had said was her father... and what had she said as well? Oh, yes.. I guess he's your father too, now!
Well, wasn't that something? The little filly had always wondered who her father was, or more like, why he couldn't be around with her, and now, just like that, she had one! However, she was not so gullible that she accepted this fact immediately. She noticed that he looked almost nothing like she and her mother, that he was big and black with big white dots, and almost a little scary. It was taking her a bit to absorb the fact that this stallion was indeed her father.
