Right now, the absolute minimum post length is 5 lines. Most of us are able to make this easily, far past it- however, less experienced players have difficulty with it, and everyone has museless days. I've been lax in enforcing this rule, I know, but from now on I will be toughening up on it, I promise, because it is really not *that* hard to make five lines. Trouble is, it seems that five lines looks different on different screens. Wider computer screens might only put four lines where a narrower screen puts five.
So, the question is- do you guys want to keep it as five lines (as displayed by my computer screen, so you may want to shoot for six to be safe), or change the minimum posting limit to a word count of 100 words? Up to you. Please cast your vote, and help shape the site. If you don't vote, you don't have the right to complain about possible changes. *dun dun dun*

I have to say that the 5 line rule is easier to keep up with. In order to make sure we have 100 words, we will have to send it to a word counter either in Word or on a site (for people like me who get a little OCD and wanna make sure I do it right)...and with the 5 line rule at least one can simply look at a post and know the requirement was met.

Silverbolt: A word is a string of letters that exists in the dictionary (or is legible, understandable slang), fits into the context, and generally looks like it belongs and isn't just squashed in somewhere randomly. Basically, parts of a normally posted sentence. No limit on individual word length, it's just like word count on Microsoft Word.
Polaris: I do believe there is a way to make proboards count the words for you. I will try to figure out how to get it to do that if we go for word count; when it is there it shows up right under the typing box (when you are in the more complicated Reply thingy, not just the quick reply at the bottom of a thread).

Oh...hmm...well, then I guess I can do either way. I'm just accustomed to the 5 line rule and I've never had a problem with it so to me its easier. But I can definitely deal with the 100 word count if necessary. I'm a detailed poster so...no probs!
