Name: Champ
Age: 6 years
Breed: Paint mustang
Height: 14.2 hh
Colour: Tobiano black piebald
Eye Colour: Brown
Gender: Male
Markings: Star, tobiano markings, scars
History:
The smell of grass, a light breeze, warm air, and horses making noise in the distance, and a large body next to him. These were the first things Champ experienced in his life. Champ was born into a herd of mustangs. He was a very spirited colt, always nipping fillies on their legs and being an all around little devil.
He was named Champ because his mother believed he would one day become a great herd leader. He thinks she named him wrong, because he did not have much intention to form a herd. Not then, anyhow. As he has gotten older, though, the urge to form a herd has swept over him from time to time.
When the paint was a yearling, ranchers came and rounded up many of the young mustangs in his herd, and he was one of them. They were catching the mustangs to be sold at auction. Champ was separated from his family, his life. The men that bought the yearling tried to break him, but they found a better purpose for the lively horse than just a pleasure creature. Since he was indeed quite wild, they chose to put him in rodeos, as a bronco.
Champ hates men with a vengeance, and never gave up a chance to let them know. Many grooms were afraid to go into his stall, because he would always bite, kick, or push them against the walls of it.
One day, Champ was grazing in a paddock and saw a band of wild horses over the fence, and he took his chance. He galloped to the fence, jumped, and cleared it with ease.
Before the urge to start a herd had formed, Champ would steal mares from other herds. He has offspring all over the place, but the two would not know one another if they looked each other in the face. Except for possibly one. Keera was his first stolen mare, a very docile and quiet mare. She had been easy to steal, standing at the very outskirts of her herd. She was a bay thoroughbred cross, a horse that had either escaped from a human or had been stolen by wild horses. Either way, she stayed with Champ until just about her due date, in the spring when he was four. She went off to foal and he had never seen her again. He would know her if he saw her. Only her, though.
When Champ was five, he met a Friesian, named Minu. They were both wandering around Sunshine River, both with no companions and no destination in mind. She is two years older than he, but they get along quite fine. She is helping him to find more mares to make a herd.
Name: Minu
Age: 8 years
Breed: Friesian
Height: 16 hh
Colour of coat: Raven
Colour of eyes: Chocolate
Gender: Female
History:
Minu was born out of a purebred Friesian mare named Richest Ebony. Her sire was a purebred Friesian named Color the sky black. Minu was often teased by the other foals, mainly because she was larger in size than the dainty Arabians and small Shetlands on the breeding ranch. The owner of the ranch had named Minu. She was his most prized possession, his only Friesian. The man that bought her owned a breeding farm for Arabians and Shetlands, and wondered what it would be like to breed one of the two breeds to a Friesian, if the cross would be good for anything.
Minu was taken from her mother as soon as she was weaned and sold to the man. The man trained her, and she became a very healthy, strong 2 year old. She would stand up for herself and not be afraid to throw her weight around some whenever the other horses made fun of her, as her size was much larger than the others. Minu's mother had told her when she was younger, "Don't let other horses determine who or what you are or look like. You will grow up to be a beautiful mare, no matter what others say."
And her mother, was, of course, correct. At the age of 4 years old, Minu was a very beautiful mare indeed. The feathering had grown out above her hooves and now covered them. Her mane and tail were very long, her tail so long in fact, that it almost touched the ground when she stood still. Her body was all muscle beneath gleaming ebonite coat. Whenever she walked, her muscles rippled beneath her coat. Of course, they weren't as large as a male's would be, but still, she was truly a sight to behold.
Many Shetland and Arabian stallions at this point were interested in the large mare. They tried to breed to her on several occasions, but none ever got to, even when the man tried to breed a few stallions to her. She would bite or kick the stallions. The man was getting a bit tired of it, as his experiment was not going as planned. Still, he hoped that one day maybe the mare would let him breed one of his many stallions to her. At the age of 5 years there was a devastating drop in income for the farm. No one was buying the horses. Torn, the man that had trained Minu had to sell her.
On her way to the auctions, Minu realized what she had to do. She did not want to go to any other human, as she did not know what life would be like with any other human. She kicked her way out of the trailer she was in and ran into the wild, not knowing what she had in store for her.
The Friesian learned quickly, though. She learned to be quick about her actions, because if not, it could cause potentially fatal problems or cause her to have an unwanted pregnancy. Many stallions tried to force-breed her, and the only thing keeping that from happening was her sheer size and weight.
She has wandered for a year, and learned a lot in the process. She found Sunshine river and wandered for quite a while. It was here that she found Champ. She trusts the younger stallion, as he had not tried to force-breed her. The two get along well enough. She is now trying to find mares for the stallion to start his own herd. Once he starts his herd, she is not quite sure what she will do. She may just go with him and his herd, wherever that may be, or she may wander away from him.
