A black body trotted toward the river. The sun high above making her coat shine. It was a mare. Her name Black Night. A fitting name for the mare. Her black coat resembling the night sky while the white star on her forehead completed the night look. As she neared the river she looked for any stallions. She heard that if you wanted a herd this was the place to go. Night dipped her head in the river and began to drink the water it provided. She then lifted her head and let the cool water run down her throat.

Bloodfire galloped into Sunshine River. He smiled to himself for he had finally claimed some territory and was excited to start a new life here and leave all the horrible rumors and his old life behind him. He whinnied to let everyone there know he was looking for a mare, particularly a lead mare that would join him. However he did have some difficulty getting mares for his coat was the deep crimson red color of blood, hence his name. He tried to ignore it and hoped he could find a mare that would ignore it as well.

Night looked around the area. She was looking for a stallion. It seemed strange that one had not come yet. At this point she was somewhat impatient to join a herd and start a new life. Night then saw a flash of crimson red out of the corner of her eyes. "Finally a stallion" she said to herself in her mind. She watched him and right away could tell he was happy about something. Night then heard his whinny. She whinnied back and raised her head proudly like she always did as began to walk toward him.

Bloodfire smiled at her reply and made his way towards her. "I am Bloodfire but you can call me Fire. What is your name m'lady?" He asked calmly. Bloodfire's crimson red coat sparkled in the sunshine as he galloped the rest of the way towards him. SHe was a pretty black mare. Black and red would usually seem evil but he didnt think that him and her together would be anything near evil.

Night nodded her head to the stallion as he approached. "Hello Fire. My name is Black Night. But you may call me Night." she replied with a smile. Night noticed his red coat shinning in the sunlight. She looked the rest of his body over. He was a nice looking stallion. She now had a somewhat flirting smile on her face. Night looked over at a tree nearby. She began to feel the heat of the sun on her black coat more now then before. That was the bad think about having a black coat. The heat. At least in summer it was a problem. She turned her head back to Fire waiting for him to say more.

Bloodfire smiled back. "Shall we go into the shade? I am getting a little hot." He said as he noticed the heat waves soaking into her coat. He slowly headed over to the shade of the tree as he turned to look and see if she was following him. He tossed his mane as he made his way to the tree, its cool shading already making his coat cool down. He knew if his coat was getting warm than she must be even hotter.

Night nodded in a reply and followed Fire over to the tree. As she watched him she noticed the shine dancing on his coat as he moved beneath the sun. Night admired the beauty of his coat. He was definitly a handsome stallion. Night could not deny that. As she moved into the shade she still felt hot but once she stood there for a bit she began to gradually cool down. She nodded to the tree to thank it for its shade then turned to the stallion and waited for him to say something.
