History:
"I've told you a thousand times, dear- your father was an idiot, some roaming bachelor, him and his buddies. He had rocks for brains, that one, and no manners at all. A nasty brute through and through."
"But Mama, why did you like him then?"
"I didn't! He and his gang just went charging on through, scattered my herd. I got lost in the trees, and he found me when I was alone and his friends were busy somewhere else, that's all. I didn't even know his name! Although, he was rather handsome... Anyhow, enough of this nonsense. I don't even get why you're so interested, anyway. Foolish filly..."
Mama could not understand why Feldspar was so interested in her father. He was just some stallion, after all; or so she thought. But Feldspar was so different from her mother, in so many ways, that she knew she must be more like her father; and knowing who she got her traits from was important to her.
Feldspar had a tendency for backtalk, especially to the lead stallion of the herd, who was her adoptive father. The flashy red filly had problems with authority, too; sometimes she would be a good girl and do what she was told, but if she was in a bad mood, she flatout refused to be cooperative and nothing could change her mind. Of all the foals in the herd, Feldspar played the roughest. She also had some of the most thoughtless ideas; she liked exciting games, but never thought about the consequences of what she did.
Soon before Feldspar turned two, her mother became tired of her daughter's habits. The reckless filly roughhoused with the colts, much more viciously than the other fillies. And when one of the colts tried to flirt with her, she kicked him in the face. The red filly was getting out of hand. But every time her mother tried to talk some sense into her, Feldspar became argumentative. The time came when they could barely even graze together without bickering. Finally, Feldspar's temper snapped, and she got another stupid idea. Her mother didn't understand her; but her father would! She would find him, and then he would be her friend. Right? Sounded like a good plan to her. So, one warm spring morning, Feldspar simply trotted off in search of the stallion who was her father. There were thousands of bachelors roaming the lands, and she didn't even have a name to go on. But that's Feldspar- charging into things without a single thought.
Feldspar soon met a trio of roans on her travels, named Saburo, Ichirou, and Jirou. She became instant friends with Saburo, but there was something a little off about the mare.... Feldspar, however, took a very long time to see it. Alas, Saburo was convinced that she herself was a stallion, and had become quite fond of Feldspar; once Feldspar realized this, she broke away from the roans and continued on her own once more.
One day, quite by accident, she ran into an obnoxious and incredibly dimwitted stallion. After a friendly shouting match, it was revealed that this fellow, named Rebel, was in fact the sire she had sought for so long. However, he wanted nothing to do with her, and Feldspar realized it was a lost cause. He wasn't at all what she had hoped for, anyway. Instead, she decided to strike out on new adventures, putting old quests out of her mind.
Those new adventures turned into a living nightmare. Things started out well; she met a pair of bachelor colts, who were quite entertaining to hang out with- Magpie and Cam. Feldspar traveled with them both for a while, causing all sorts of shenanigans. However, one fateful day, she was captured by a monstrous horse, a giant black stallion by the name of Hunter. Feldspar had never previously been good at keeping her mouth shut, and always fought back if she wasn't pleased with the situation; but Hunter taught her to be quiet, the hard way. She was forced and repeatedly beaten until the little roan didn't have the heart to fight back anymore. Timid, starved, and bullied by the rest of the herd, her situation did not improve any when her daughter was finally born. Feldspar wasn't cut out to be a mother!
Out of nowhere, Saburo appeared, and attempted to rescue her. The rescue plan failed, as Feldspar's filly was too small to move very quickly- Feldspar would have happily abandoned her, but Saburo wanted her to care for the newborn. The time delay was a catastrophe, as Hunter came upon the scene and promptly claimed Saburo as his own. Perhaps, alone, the mare could escape, but she would not leave Feldspar and Rusty alone. At least now, Feldspar has a friend.... but does that help at all?
