Swinging On A Star
The beautiful; tall Arabian mare stood on a high ledge; she moved her head firstly in one direction; and then in another. She shifted from one foot to another; her mane and tail being whipped away on the wind that blew across her; from what she gathered; she was up wind to one stallion and his herd; whom she had avoided for some time and down wind from another.
Now she stood in the open; on a high ledge, which she had bounded over rocks and deep holes to get to; she was at an advantage, any horse that dared to challenge her would have to climb the steep sided, rocky mountain. Ears pricked and nose lifted delicately; she breathed in the scent of the green grass; and the stallion that had resided here for some time. She let a soft whinny escape onto the wind and be carried across the valley; she knew any stallion that was in search of a mare would hear it and any mare wary of another would too.
She looked out over the countryside that stretched in front of her; she was a pure bred Arabian; but looked as wild as any, with her long wild mane and tail; the only tell tale was her dished face; curved ears which touched at the tips and her delicate features. Yarolala The chestnut mare was stunning; she had ice white mane and tail and a burning red colour to her hide. Her long ice coloured mane and tail flew down over her hide and flowed freely in the wind that blew through her hair. She saw the beautiful Arabian mare standing out on the rock; but here she stood completely hidden in the small group of trees looking directly at a small herd in the distance.
She was a brumby cross mare, and had traveled far to come to this place; she had wondered somewhat, but decided that this was the right home for her; now all she needed was a stallion to follow and bear foals with.
She had been fetched from a chestnut stallion's herd by Lightning; and Baringa accompanied Lightning on his expedition to claim her, two palomino colts. When neither Lightning or the chestnut stallion won the fight for her, she followed Lightning and Baringa away, but lost track of Baringa when he leaves them, forcing her to remain with Lightning. She was totally devoted to Baringa and she left Lightning's herd to search out the mysterious Baringa by herself. Eventually Benni the Kangaroo brings Baringa to her and she joins his herd, only for Baringa to get caught in a tragic fire and never to be seen again by her; nor his herd.
Turning to eye the Arabian mare standing so plainly on the hillside; she was hidden, the crossbreed beauty......

Rosemont had found some time to catch some wonderers, luckily for him they were a pair of mares...beauties at that. As he moved towards the two, one hiding behind the other, he let a whine escape towards them both. He stood studying the Arabian he smiled, the one behind he could not but knew she was a cross of some sort, he looked into the Arabians eyes and smiled, "What might be your name, Arabian mare ??" he asked rather accutely.
Then from pure interest he moved upon where she stood, The chestnut palomino blending into the background. As he swinged his regal muzzle around to her his chocolate mane flew in the breeze, like fire, his chocolate tail just swayed from side to side but flowing, like water in a brook. His mustang partbreed really only shone in a fight, otherwise his TB side was just plain clear... his confirmation, his stamina, his intelligence, his studdness.... but the way he spoke and evaluated others was due to his environment and the way he was raised.
Rosemont knew that he was the original stud within Sunshine River, the charmer. So he moved on over to the hidden cross. His golden dun coat gleaming within the light that flew through the trees, "Well Hi there, hidden beauty !!" he meant what was said. She was hiding and she was beautiful... then again he had a fettish for palomino mares, he admitted to it !! Firstly his lead mare was a palomino, Iced Diamond, then his half sister was a palomino and he tended to stick up for her the most aswell, his last herd mares were nearly all palomino, his mother is even a palomino... hense fettish for palomino mares !!

Yarolala
Yarolala; knew not who the other mare; she had never set eyes upon her before and she watched from across the way. She stood not with the mare; but in a group of trees away, interested in the confident beauty; but uninterested in the way the mare conducted herself.
The hidden beauty had taught herself to move through the wilderness without sight nor sound; to disappear without a trace and leave no trace at all. Now she watched the dun stallion; with little interest. He moved not with the hidden grace of a chased stallion; but one of ego boosted confidence. She shifted her weight silently from one leg to another and looked at him as he spoke. She said nothing; she knew not much of her past breeding; only that her mother had been a full bred wild brumby and her father she would have guessed at a TB.Swinging On A Star
The mare; standing on higher ground looked down to watch the stallion make his way to wards her with some interest; she guess that he was somewhat younger than she. She eyed him a moment before speaking. "It is rude to ask one for their name in first greeting; is it not?" she asked flicking her eyes to wards him; wondering if he had any mare at all in his herd and that of a lead mare. "It is much more appropriate to converse in conversation and then if i choose i shall offer my name to you; for you ears only of course" she said finally almost in a whisper.
"How long have you resided here; dear sir?" she asked; in a dominant kind of way; for she was a born lead mare and no equine; mare or stallion would ever be higher than she; unless she was a worthy opponent.

Rosemont stood stunned at the Arabian, the other the strong silant type. "Well here, and where I am from small talk is rarely used unless in the one place in which to gather mares. I have lived here not long, I moved from another territory...mainly due to wanting a bigger herd like I am use to." he said plainly. Others thought he was stuck up... well perhaps for his age. "Where might you be from ?? whats your story ??" he asked with slight intrigue.
Mainly he was interested in the silant cross...

Swinging On A Star
"Indeed; I appologise for my abruptness" she said softly; she eyed him for a moment; he was interesting, not many would have answered such a remark like he did; especially for his age. "Indeed a large herd is somewhat complacent; but my story is boring; I have roamed for some time alone." she said vaguely. "I originated from some mountains; banished after my mother perished in the winter; told to make my way to warmer country, here i have been wondering some for since the spring." she said finally as she stretched her delicate muzzle to him.

Rosemont smiled as he caught her muzzle. "So you have been waiting for a warm climated territory. Wise. Didn't you wonder into any trouble, a lone mare here is often snapped up into herd life quicker than I can get there." he chuckled. "I have moved territory in these lands many times, White Meadows for numerous reasons, Rainbow Ridge, then I came here.... it reminds me of the first home I was in.... So what will you do now ?? You neglected to mention your name." he said in rather a sweet manner. As his nacres took her scent in, he could smell another herd. could it be the one she stayed with for shelter ?? thats what he assumed. Rosemont pointed his muzzle then out to the brumby mix. She was the oposite to the mare. "Are you going to talk at all ?! might I ask." he said finished with a sharp snort.

Swinging On A Star
Swinging On A Star chuckled. "A warmer climate yes; but the mountains remind me so much of home." she said softly. "I wondered from the river; which is so close through the lands; but never with any herd here; always alone" she said looking at him. "I am independent and take no other as above me, i fought several stallions away and even an evil mare keeping my hide free as possible" she said a bright burning spark lighting her eyes. "I now seek a herd; where i am bound by no leader." she said finally. Yarolala
Yarolala's eyes bored into the stallions and still she remained silent. She shifted away from them out into the bright sunshine and moved freely across the rocky grass; she moved like she was at one with the ground; never tripping or faltering; she stepped easily never leaving a trace that she had been there previously; only her soft scent being carried away on the wind and the small fact that this beautiful chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail was floating over the rocky ground like a ghost.

Rosemont looked into the brumbys eyes right back before she left. Not that he had obtained a long and meaningful conversation with her. "Well then. I am affraid the other stallion residing here has a lead mare, shes strong and killed her own father. Me, well I don't exactly know, my lead is upset with me for losing her closest friends and future foals. So I suppose the spot is open if she does not return back with my dearest, oldest friend Private Waterfall, she stays in my herd with me now carrying my foal." he paused and wondered further where she was and what on Earth Diamond was doing ?! "Would you care to join me and my herd ??" he asked politly after taking a massive gulp to calm his nerve and buck up the courage. To be truethful he did want Diamond to come back, however it was completely up to her, if she did she would have to fight for the crown and him. Would she ?! Would he let them fight ?! What would happen to the other if they fell and loss the crown ?? So many questions that would have to be answered within given time, hopefully not long before she returned back where she belonged ... by his side.

Swinging On A Star
"I would like to join your herd; my dubbth is Swinging On A Star." she said watching him watch the other mare. She was indeed a beautiful chestnut; but she held no such breeding as herself. She was a born and bred wild horse and it screamed out at Swinging On A Star.
Sighing she tossed her head and touched her nose to Rosemont. "I would indeed like to take place as Lead; and if or when your dear mares return, she may challenge me for the privilege." she said finally.

Rosemont threw his head back wildly and brought himself into a rear. As he came back down to the ground with a mighty roar pounding upon the dust coated ground he smiled as he sided up to Star. "You are indeed reasonable, but I will not allow any mare in my herd fight while expecting. Not after nearly losing my precious daughter, speaking of which where is she ?!" he paused and perked his head up to look around him letting out whinnies nickers and in general calling for her. Indeed all his mares really. "Follow me to your new ruling land, but be careful a stallion has already challenged me." he said just above a whisper and barely below normal speech.
Galloping Light watched as her sire walked off with a new mare. She could not understand it ! Was she no longer an Alpha but a mesly Beta within the herd status, well she wanted to find out. "Daddy !! Daddy !!!!" she raced up to him and pounced hitting her father in his crown. Galloping Light was getting taller turning out to be as pretty as her mother but as spirited as her father, a good combo one could say. "Whom might you be ??" she asked as she looked up from under her fathers throat with her chocolate rimmed sandy ears pricked forward. Light had only interest in wheter her status remand or declined to almost bottom rank, even though this herd was said to have none, it was best to hold daddy's heart now that was the key to a higher rank and thus more authority... her being the first daughter would get highest rank next to her sire . . . right ?!! Light felt as if her whole life had turned upside down completely, her mother had just abandoned her and her father had replaced her mother ! Sometimes she was so overwhelmed that she wished she could cry but knew that it was not her fault but her mothers and her problem to deal with and sort out !! Light was finally taking a stand.

Swinging On A Star
"Indeed" she said; nuzzling Rosemont; still unknown to his name. "I have graced you with my name; may i ask you yours sir?" she said finally.
Eying the filly for a moment; she saw the same stubbornness that she too held in her heart. "Dear one; rudeness will get you no where" she said pausing a moment before nipping the filly sharply. "I am your new lead mare, there fore you do s i say for your own safety." she said her voice barely higher than a sharp whisper. ooc: sorry about my posts ^ my muse has been gone since my crash.

Rosemont looked at Star as she nipped at his little Princess. She was no longer a foal but a weanling. "Named Rosemont. See you have met my little Princess." he said plainly as he looked down slightly to his Light. "Where have you been ?? and wheres your mother ??" he asked Galloping Light. the almost unruly, wild, untamed, stubborn, selfish and sweet young filly. "Actually tell me later, Waterfall wishes to see you my dear with eager bitterness." he spoke softly as he nudged her toward Waterfalls direction. "I'd be careful with Light, she is alot like me but with the beauty of her mother and joint charm. Lights minipulative and often very selfish, shes also standing to be the one to inherit this herd, if BattleCry does not join first... my first son." he said as he sided up to Star.
Galloping Light snorted at the mare. "Still you never answered my question. And to be fair I did say hi !" she said with her brown eyes grown huge and a smirk laid upon her maw. "To answer you daddy, mum just left me. Otherwise at Rainbow Ridge." she said as she was in the mist of running in full speeding gallop after Waterfalls trailing scent. Light knew that Waterfall would care for her, protect her and treat her as one of her own foals an almost surrogate mother for Light to look up to. Star would be the bossy one, Light would be the spirited one, Waterfall would be the sweet kind one, Rosemont being the charmer and the lone stallions being the muscles while the lone mare would be the coat ! Light was jealouse of her creamelo coat but she was pleased with her own too !!

Swinging On A Star
"In return to your answer little filly; my Name is Swinging On A Star" she said abruptly. She would not put up with the filly being rude to her new lead; so she would ignore her if possible. "She is now indeed old enough to understand what is required of her; if she too would care to challenge me for her place in the herd when she comes of age; then she may. But i ask her to respect her elders, and I do not agree with the fact she will inherit; the lead mare at the time will be leader till a new stallion or a stallion from the herd takes over." she said finally, it was her view - that was all.

Rosemont snorted slightly at the idea of structure in his herd. "She does, perhaps its just you meeting based on the first impression. She has just lost her mother and perhaps even me too ! she needs stability not a telling off. Ask Waterfall and she will tell you that Light is indeed a respecting young filly. I am waiting upon BattleCry's answer, if he will stay in one place for longer than a week, then he inherits the herd if I pass on. Thats IF he would follow and do as his told till then." he smiled at Star. Light had always been faster than the other herd members which was perhaps best at times. "Shall we leave to our territory now.?" he asked sweetly as he pointed out with his muzzle.

Swinging On A Star
Star snorted. "Indeed; she needs to be able to rely on, and i understand that she has lost her mother; as i indeed did as well." she paused a moment. "Is Waterfall you only other mare?" she asked.
"And i would indeed like to see the rest of your territory, i would also like to seal my joining you herd" she said almost silently; hoping he would understand what she meant and that she would not have to spell it out to him.

Rosemont smiled as she dismissed Light for a little while. "Is now. Once I had the biggest herd here, now its made up of four stallions and four mares, if you count Light as a mare. Waterfall, Frothy, Light and you. Me, Caleb, Cody and chace. Those stallions are merely loners and Frothy is Cody's one and only mare. Caleb and Chace are twins which have no mare to join this herd. While I tend for everyone really." he smiled once again. At her almost silant words that were said he did not understand untill he figured it out further yet he just wanted to tease her, "What did you say Star ??" he said with a smirk. He was only playing with her, she was so serious and needed to lighten up as such.

Swinging On A Star
Swinging On A Star snorted loudly; letting it echo around her. "You know exactly what i said" she said a spark coming to her eyes. "Should i meet the rest of the herd then? or well who ever is about" she said boldly. "Then we should seal me joining the herd." she said. "so long as you feel safe to leave the herd" She stopped talking suddenly as soft white lakes started to fall covering the floor in incredible speed.
"It is too late in the year now to join together" she said vaguely. "But i can still meet what herd is about now" she said finally.

ForaPessimistI'm[] Optimistic Thats what you get !
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-------------------------------~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A silant nod and a thoughtful face. Rosemont was not sure whether it was safe or not, he thought so. "Then I shall gather the rest of the herd together. For this season at least, we cannot seal the joining, but after the foals are born for next season then we shall. Light I have spoken to about the birthing season and I need a mare to talk to her about it, can you my love ??" he said so charmingly. The snow had fallen to the dusty rocky floor and it was was now coated beautifully. Deep hoove marks were made along the coated snow as Star, Rosemont, Waterfall and Light had tread. Tors could be sighted on the mountains sides otherwise where they were walking was flat, to get to their land they had to go through a valley and through a mountain via a cave, it was subcluded and quiet just the way he liked his homes. A small stream flowed through the land and vegetation was plentiful in the heard lands, in spring.
