[OOC: It's okay, Flick, Velvet can be added in in between Cody and Rosemont ;3]
The stout white mare turned in a blazing fury on Rosemont. "Don't you try to romance me now," she snapped venomously, her usually gentle brown eyes hard and flashing dangerously. "I'll fall not for your childish flirting and wimpy songs." Casting a scornful eye over Peligrosas and Cody, she added shortly, "I'll also not leave a fine, kind stallion for one who need..." she paused to flare her nostrils, "protectors." She caught sight of the graceful palomino mare and the adorable little filly she had once loved so well as her own family members, and her heart caught and pounded hard. But she would not give in. She could not give in.
And what if you go with him and he, once again, disappears with Iced Diamond and Galloping Light and comes back and begs once again for you to return to him? You thought you could trust him and you were wrong... you don't want to be wrong again! And yet, the memories came to her, the memories of Rosemont's romantic words when they first met at Sunshine River, the memories of meeting her new friends and family members. Even memories of the hot, passionate afternoon in Breeding Canyon, which reminded Tulip Pegasus that she still carried his foal.
But she could not forgive him for leaving her and all the other mares in their herd, breaking hearts and dissolving trust. King seemed like a calm, dependable stallion with a head on his shoulder and no fetish for drama and flighty adventures. The perfect leader. In Tulip's eyes, the bare opposite of Rosemont. Which was a good thing.
[OOC: As I adopted TP, I don't exactly know about how Rosemont and her met originally, btu whatever xD]

Peligrosas slightly bit the air. He knew that they were afraid of him. They needed to get over him and sort out their herd and land, then he could happily leave to his herd...but no a certain few mares have to be fussy and arrogant. Rosemont had signaled for him to leave after his colt of a son BattleCry.
Before he turned to leave he flew high up into the air into a mighty and powerful rear as he screamed, "Rosemont could easily have continued and not came back for you...BUT he had to because he loves you !! Do you truly think that this King does as much as Rosemont ?! If it was up to me, you would die for your traitory, but it is ROSEMONTS choice of what to do, not mine !! Count yourself lucky mares !! Not only holding his company but his love !! He gives me orders to follow, say kill, then I WILL CARRY THEM OUT WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT !!" his tone harsh, black and deep but speaking the Truth no matter. His cry echoed throughout.
With his cry over and his little attention show he moved toward the call of BattleCry...knowing what he had to do, keep him alive and out of harms way. However their was no doubt that Peligrosas would return to Rainbow Ridge with perhaps more venom loaded to spit at whomever crossed him.... [/center]

King raised his head, this was not right. This was not their home any more and would not ever be at this rate. They could join his herd and be happy or go elsewhere, especially since they should not have remembered anything at all. A hoof stamp. He looked to his lead and let out a soft neigh, then lowered his muzzle to the small filly around him. She was a good filly and would turn out to a strong mare with her attitude as it was. He raised his head once more. He would be standing his ground and speaking to others, especially his mustang Knight. He turned his eyes to Tulip Pegasus, a soft sigh leveling from his muzzle. No, this was not what he wanted. No more drama in his terra. This colt needed to leave since it was not what he wanted really. His herd did not want him anymore and they showed what they wanted clearly. He lowered his head to his mares. Then raised it once more, "The time has come if you wish to come to my place. My residence by the waterfall. My lead, my Knight, and his Lady, as well as I all welcome you and your foals or unborn foals to my terra. No harm will ever come to your or your own. Come live a life of happiness and safeness. If that is what you want." His voice was strong as he offered them what he could give them. A place in his herd, a strong herd that would welcome them all if they wanted. No evil intentions, no protectors of his own. Only a Knight that never wanted to lead a herd again...only be with his dearest friend.
Raidho came up behind King, a stoic presence in his King's shadow. He stood still, stamping his hoof and letting his tail fly. He would fight by his King's side if need be since this was his herd as well, they were like brothers. Mentor and Apprentice, Brothers. A loud call flew from his muzzle. Enough was enough. This was their terra and this Colt and his would be family should not even remember this place...That is not how it worked...He sighed deeply, King was right. It was time to head back to their land and let the mares relax. They needed it in their time of gravidity. It would be a trying time for them come winter and foaling season, but King and himself would make it go as smoothly as possible.

ooc: This is sort of out of turn but I want to take Codys turn now, I am bringing Frothy into it now, I like drama plots. When it comes to Codys bit I will finish what I started So for now I will write TBC ... Frothy just kept on following Cody, expecting, her head jolted up when she saw King and her old home. Oh Boy! she thought as she stood behind Cody with a smile. She nudged him lightly and pointed her maw out below them. "He is the very stallion I ran from and left...is that Dun the one whom you live with?" she said as she pointed her head down toward them all. Slowly she moved down to them still behind Cody but with her head held high with happiness, her stepping was precise and her colouring shone beautifully.
Cody marched in cheerfully and ready for a fight. As he looked around he spotted a newcomer. At listening to his beloved he grew angry but he stored his anger for the fight that was to come. To Be Continued...

Faradera rounded on the little filly. "L'eau! You don't go around biting horses simply because you don't like them. Apologize, miss." It pained her to scold her surrogate daughter, but she realized that just as there was the joy and love of mothering, there was also the disciplining and bringing up the foal correctly. She nodded to Velvet, and told Cody softly, "Cody. Please. Leave me to my own business. King knows me far better than you ever will, do not drive him off." A soft sigh escaped her body. Life was exhausting... at Rosemont's words, she raised her head. Ever so quietly, she answered, "No, Rosemont. No fighting to the death. Over Tulip perhaps, but not me. That much I am not worth. I can consider forgiveness... but not over thoughtless actions and words..." She turned her face away, eyes melting slightly, and busied herself licking L'eau. Death was something she both feared and longed for, something that had dogged her entire life. Even a casual remark to the side such as that set her off, and just the mention or hint of dying overcame her. Her beloved sister, a happy filly without a care in the world; the grey gelding, her best friend and mentor; the humans who loved her; all had died that tragic night from which she would bear scars forever. Her own three foals, lifeless on the cold, hard ground. She herself had had several near-death moments- her injury, the difficult births, the accident, and others as a young filly. No, it was ridiculous to cry over some silly phrase that had nothing to do with anything at all. The black mare swallowed back her tears and hardened herself. She was a horse of steel when she needed to be. She ignored Peligrosas; she did not listen to killers, and there was no need to cause a scene, not in front of L'eau.

L'eau looked up at the stallion. "Sorry, I guess." L'eau still did not like the stallion, but her mother wanted her to appoligize so she did. She nickered to Tulip Pegasus. She trotted over to her and nuzzled her. "Hi Tulip Pegasus!" She spoke in a happy voice even though there was so much happening around her. She walked over to Rosemont and spoke to him. "Sir please leave us alone. I do not want to go with you and it doesn't seem like anyone else does, so please please leave us alone." L'eau knew that he might not listen to her, but Faradera would hurt him if he was mean to her or if her hurt her. She would bite him like she bit Cody if he messed with her or Faradera.

Velvet watched the plot unfold before her. Frothy Masterpiece was here, now. The mare who had miscarried King's foal. Elegantly, she moved her feet, stepped forward and moved over to the mares. Her slightly rounded belly shifting as her feet wound the way through the battlefield developing. She stood beside Faradera, speaking softly. "Is L'eau your foal? She certainly is a charmer!" Perhaps if I talk to the mares they will come with us and not that horrible stallion... She glanced at the mare and little foal. When her and King's foal is born, little L'eau and the foal can play, it would be so good for them. The autumn drafts whipped the grassed which were looking a bit less green since the season had started.

Galloping Light trotted over infront of her mother letting out a greeting nicker to the younger filly. "whats your name? I am princess Galloping Light, you dont like my dad right now do you?? when you get to know him he is so fun and you can get away with anything !! Cody is just fine too, he joined us not too long ago so I dont know much about him, but he is fun to play with !! Wanna play ?!!" she said cheerfully. Light had no idea what was going on she had only lead the twins here, well one out of two. She looked at the mare known as Velvet and answered her, "No shes not her blood related foal." it had no tone to it just short with rolling eyes. They looked nothing alike !! She knew what the mare was doing and in turn kicked, maybe it would hit her face !! then turned her head behind her, "damn, I missed the blasted fly !!" with a silant chukle she trotted off, threw her head back and nickered playfully to the filly.
Rosemont stood next to Tulip simply nodding. "Now, do you want me to be nice or the mean stallion that faught off a pack of wolves ?!" he was partially sarcastic but largely annoyed. King was seriously bugging him more than the flies so he called out to him, a challenge, a battle, for land and mares, if he lost well he would leave them be and just keep trying. He was a fighter !! His glance shifted to Raidho, the knight, what was so special he was like what Peligrosas is to Rosemont only Peligrosas holds his own terra and a real title. Dark Angel. Cody and twins were the same too, they were bachelors looking to join a herd not raise one. Rosemont nuzzled Tulip and let out a huge sigh and murmered under his breath, "A fight to the death it is !"
A peircing scream left his maw as he threw himself up into the air in a full rear, muscles bulging, vains popping, sweat dripping, teeth bared, ears pinned back and eyes focused. He knew what to do in a fight with an older stallion, it was almost too easy with a full proof plan. Rosemont threw his head back and started to ready himself for perhaps the fastest run he would ever do in his life...
ooc: lets try and make this whole fight quick and easy, BTW Cody && Twins need to be active for this, please and thank you !! otherwise Raidho isn't going to be able to participate nor are the mares and everyone else.

[OOC: What twins? Now I'm getting confused Although, I do agree with Spirit on this one. Wouldn't it be a good idea to just let Cody be active and then delete him after the thread is done?] The square-boned white mare watched Rosemont get terribly fired up, and a moment later she sprang forward... she didn't know what she was doing or what she was thinking. But suddenly, she was angry. And she wasn't a brawling, kind of righteous angry, either, not like Rosemont and King. She was piercing, shrieking, frustrated furious, the kind of traditional housewife furious. And although it doesn't sound quite as formidable, the sight of her was something indeed. She sprang in front of Rosemont before he could move any farther, and reared. She had been forced to fight and fend for herself ever since the first moment of birth, like every single true-through wild horse had to, but never before had she realized that it had made her so strong. Hooves hardened by pounding over rough terra lashed out with astonishing speed at the stallion before her. Yes, she was pregnant, and the bulge in her stomach was definitely noticeable to a sharp eye that had seen her before her pregnancy, but she was still as spry as ever, and her eyes blazed in a fury. However, the unexpected power behind her kick shocked even herself, and it caught her and knocked her off balance. She nearly fell head over heels, which, for a horse, could have been deadly. Thankfully, she caught herself at the last moment, and as she stood straight again she opened her mouth and blurted words rushed back her lips. But it was not the harried apology she had expected herself to say... no, it was something different entirely. It was almost as if she didn't know herself anymore. "You blathering idiot! Not everything has to be a bloomin' fight t'the death... you think you're just goin' t'go 'round rearin' up at other big studs while a blinkflippinbloomin lot 'o useless pregnant mares stand in the background fainting from the drama?""Well, you're far from the mark! You think you're fighting to get us back, dontcha, well, I'll let you know! This was decided the moment you left us all on some insane whim, and you coming back with two... protectors," this word was half-spluttered and half-sneered, "And singin' us some wordy tunes, and angering the only stallion kind enough to take us in, and, well, it ain't helpin' anything, I'll have you know!" Her voice had risen many octaves, and it was now a shrill shriek that was terrible on the ears. But suddenly, it dropped to a near whisper. "It doesn't matter how many stallions you want to beat to the ground," she hissed. "I'm not your mare anymore and I never will be."

ooc: Last time I post out of turn, I promise. forgive me dusty!
Faradera snorted and pinned her ears at the obnoxious filly. Her eyes went to Rosemont's, and though she was deathly quiet, her voice was just as poisonous as Tulip's. "Rosemont, listen to me. This is utterly ridiculous. And I have something to say about it.
First of all, why are you so intent on killing King? He has done nothing wrong. He has showed only kindness to us since you went up in smoke. Don't drag him in; he did nothing wrong, and I daresay has done a lot more right than you have. Also, I would be lying if I said I feel safe with you anymore. You call this killer your friend; well, if I have fallen in with evil stallions, I will most certainly not be getting myself in any further.
From the beginning, I doubted the leadership abilities of a couple of three year olds. But, I held my tongue. What do I know of the wild? Nothing. But I have learned some, and what I know now has only solidified my belief. Also, no foal of mine will ever be raised in this herd. Do you encourage Light's rude behavior, or are you simply to stupid or ignorant to discipline her? She might be your daughter, but she is no princess as she claims. Only if you treat her like the spoiled brat she has become. No, I will not tolerate any foal of mine to become like that. Teaching her to be rude to elders and act like this is a surefire recipe for a hopeless, senseless adult. Or do you not realize that?" Her gaze turned icily to Rosemont's lead mare, and her voice sank even lower. "And in any case, I will not be subordinate to a mare who cannot even control her own daughter, let alone a herd."
Her tail lashed angrily. She was sick and tired of this whole charade. It was all too clear that the only thing Rosemont had in mind was killing King and winning her back by force, and that this herd was never going to hold any value for her anymore. "Rosemont, you saved my life once, and for that I am forever grateful. However, I cannot- will not- stay here any longer. Have a nice life. Come, L'eau, we're leaving." She trotted several steps away, then slowed, and called over her shoulder, "Tulip, you can do whatever you choose to do. But if you need a friend, or company, well, you have one right here. Feel free to come with us, or not to." And with that, she set off at a rollicking lope down the hill.

L'eau started to trot after Faradera, but then she stopped and ran over to Tulip Pegasus. "Tulip, I am not leaving without you. Come with us please." L'eau placed her muzzle on Tulip's side. She looked at Rosemont. Tulip didn't seem to like Rosemont very much. "Rosemont stay away from Tulip and all of us. We don't like you trying to kill King! King is nice to us and you are just a big bully!" L'eau stood between Rosemont and Tulip. "And Light you act like a princess and you are just as bad as your father." L'eau looked at her mommy. She wanted to be just like her and she hoped she had done good and pleased her.

Light snarled at the youngster and stood in front of her father. "You cant tell anyone what to do orphan !! Tulip may do as she pleases and I am a born Princess unlike you, orphan !!" she was harsh as she haunched her back up bared her teeth and snarled at the younger foal. She was usually sweet but bold, she was starting to get out of hand !! Light nearly went after her voilently but she held herself tall, head over the foals and snorted.
Rosemont reared after Tulip had her say. "You think I fight him just for you !! Do not flatter yourself mare !!" he said rather viciously, a drastic turn from his usual tone. "I want my land back !! I can easily replace you and still have the foals, its handy having a dark angel on your side, Peligrosas is incredibly voilent when he is sent on a mission and efficient !!" he was rather harsh as he lashed out at the air.
Then he swung around to Faradera, the death-dodger. "She is a Princess, my little girl !! Just leave, watch as your foal grows to be far worse than Light. Watch as you leave an angry young foal behind only to seek out his father !! Either way I shall get the foal, if not as a foal, then as it grows older !! I have raised a herd before, few rules but if broken then they were punished...just as my visit reminded me !!" he said poisonessly.
Rosemont was furious, angry and even in more of a dagerous mood than beforehand. They were now stepping on eggshells. If they irritated him he could just snap at them. Hell he could even charge King in the hot-headed mood he was in.
Iced Diamond stood stunned at Faradera's remark, at her stallions and at her foals. So she stepped in by biting Lights hide and pushing Rosemont to the side to calm down. "Faradera, you are not a mother until you have birthed a foal. Light can be unruley at times and I give you that she is a spoilt brat, but she is a Daddy's girl. I have not raised her since she was born, apart from feeding her and comforting her. The rest of the time, as you know, she is with Rosemont or outside the herd. I have no experiance being a mother nor at being a lead. At first I was unsure of being lead mare but I have tried my best considering the drama that unfolded in these lands. Perhaps we should all just take some time to ourselves to calm down ! I want no trouble, just my home and friends back, at least I thought you were my friends." she turned around as tears began to fill her eyes.
She wastruely hurt at what was said and so started to send Light toward Cody. "You PRINCESS are going home with Cody !! No buts !! STRAIGHT HOME, ... THIS INSTANCE !!" she said with a snort knowing too well that Light would do as her told or her father would not be overly happy with her disobeying her mother. Then she moved off toward Rosemont with a huge sigh. What was said really hit home for her, she was a bad mother, she didn't deserve to have hiis foal nor did she think that she deserved to be his lead...but she stood tall and smiled even though she felt like crying. Everything always went topsy-turvsy for her when it was peaceful and with a gleaming future, she never knew why she only knew she hated it and how much pain it caused !!

L'eau looked at Light. She was hurt, but she would not show it. She screamed at Light. "I am NOT an orphan!! I have a mother and she loves me!!!!" L'eau looked away from the rest of them and galloped off once again. She fell down in a patch of grass and startted to cry. She started to talk to her real mother. "Mother why did you leave me? Why did you have to go? I miss you. Faradera is very nice, but she won't be able to ever take your place." L'eau continued to sob. She was hurt by Light's words.

Faradera nuzzled L'eau comfortingly. "We are the same, you and I," she mumbled. "You cannot have real mother, and I cannot have a real foal. But I love you just as much, if not more." Her scarred face mirrored Iced Diamond's own sadness, as she answered softly, "I thought we were friends, as well. But the one you have chosen to love, is one I have chosen to despise. I am sorry." Her broken heart cracked again at Rosemont's words. "Rosemont, your words are futile. Just as this foal will be. We both know fully well that there is no chance of it surviving. And this time, no humans will be there to help me. Perhaps I will be forced to go down that same road, that all of my loved ones have taken..." And perhaps it will be for the best, she added silently in her head. But she did not voice it aloud. L'eau needed her now. Perhaps, when she was older, and able to fend for herself, perhaps then Faradera could find a high cliff, and use her old eventing skills for one, final jump, one to cure all pain.
She shook her head, and stepped closer, whispering in her ex-lead mare's ear. "Iced Diamond, before we part ways, know this- ever since we met, I have envied you. A solid life, no guilt, beautiful and un-maimed, a healthy foal. I was happy, for about six years. Now, I am twice that age, and leaving my prime. My life was taken away from me. Do not let yours be stolen as mine was. Fight for it as I could not. Perhaps, then, you need not suffer as I have done. Forgive me..." She slipped away, motioning to L'eau again. She was tired, her body and soul exhausted. Her mind had been tortured and sleep deprived of her since the accident, thanks to the nightmares that flooded her every time she closed her eyes. That alone was worth dying to escape. Just live for L'eau... and then..

Iced Diamond burst out into tears and sobbed on Rosemonts shoulder. Normally she would mask it in anger, but she was exhausted and willing to change. She shouted out to Faradera, "Don't go !! My time away, when I had the accident made me relise that...I dont want to fight anymore...I no longer want everything I love and cherish to scre.w up for minor things !! I am sorry,, if you leave,, then so do I !!" she was balling her eyes out and she knew Rosemont could not handle losing Everything he loved. She looked up to him smiled weakly threw her head down and slowly started to move next to Faradera. Hoping that both of them would relise that she could not be happy without both of them in her life. She knew Rosemont was stubborn but he wasnt stupid, he would step in as she stepped out.
Light stopped as she followed Cody out the terra. At the sight of the little filly falling she lost her anger and became more sympathetic. Faradera was a great mum and they were happy together !! So she galloped over to the fillies side as fast as she could, perhaps the fastest she had ever ran !! Then once at her side she nuzzled her and spoke, "I am sorry !! I can be a little hot-headed like my dad at times. If I am like this with you what will I be like with my siblings ?!" she paused as her expression changed to wide eyes, stunned face and open maw, but she shook it off and continued, "Will you forgive me ?? ...Princess" a friendly smile, a friendly nudge and a heave up onto her hooves. Light was a little rouge but it was never to late to change !!
Rosemont gritted his teeth. Diamond was right Light's attitude was his fault for spoiling her rotten !! Then as he began to think about it, what was said was rotten. As Diamond cried on his shoulder he sighed heavily but stood his ground, then as she began to walk he stood his ground still, as Light helped the filly she had been so horrid to he relised that he was being stubborn and vicious...he never wanted to lose anything he loved !!
As Diamond made off to go he galloped infront of the mares and neighed as his eyes grew wide. "I dont want to lose you !! Any of you !! Faradera what I said was wrong but you must understand that I can lose my temper at times when I don't get my message through...I spoil Light only because she is the only filly I have EVER sired !! You are a great mother, you prove that with L'eau. She is charming and fiesty and....and....and everything I want Our foals to be. Cody, is no protector but a friend and lone stallion along with twins that he held companionship with as a small bachelor herd, they never wanted to raise a herd of their own...dont ask me why." he paused and took in a deep breath before begining again, "I love you !! You are kind yet vengeful but stand up for helpless critters. I never wanted for any of this to happen. L'eau is just adorable, and all she wants to do is impress her mother. L'eau can you forgive me, sweetie ?!" then he took in a deep breath once more with his side heaving. He managed to nuzzle L'eau like he nuzzled Light as a baby but he brushed his side with Light instead. He was proud of her && of Diamond, heck Faradera and Tulip too !!

[OOC: Okay, we -are- mauling the posting order, btu whatever TP has a piece to say herself] "Oh, I'm not getting my hopes up!" Tulip Pegasus snarled at the stallion. Her heart was pounding and her mind was racing at miles a second. "You act as if your foals are objects! 'I can get them back'? As if they are little souvenirs, little trophies for retrieving! You have no idea what true pain is, Rosemont! You have no idea what it is like to be scorned for half your life because of how you were born and then brought into a new herd, your dream come true, to find your love and a happy home... and then your 'love' leaves you and your friends stranded, and then comes back to break your heart again! Are you so cruel-hearted, so dumb-headed? All you care about is grandeur, about being at high stature, with many possible heirs behind you so that your bloodline is assured, and many mares to love you so that you might have even more foals, and a beautiful terra to boast about! You care not about the feelings, the hopes, that you dash along the way! You care not that you mangled my spirit by leaving me, but you come back and expected me to forgive you because you sing me a song! I will have nothing to do with you! Nothing!""i know you're going to say I'm wrong, and I know you're going to say I'm being stupid! But I don't want to be smart anymore! I can't stand this anymore, what's the point of having friends if all they do is break your heart, make you trust them and then leave and come back only to snap and snarl at you and threaten your future and the future of your children!""I had hoped it was possible that I'd ever be worthy enough to have a happy life," she snarled through gritted teeth. "But I was wrong. Apparently I'm nought but an object, to be replaced if I can't be won back, as is the foal in my belly! It's inevitable one day my foal will yearn to know their father... Which is why there is no meaning anymore, is there? What meaning if there to my life if my entire life will be like this?""I pity you, my dear Diamond," she said, suddenly turning to the pretty palomino. "You cannot help being in love, and yet you are in love with such a monstrosity."She wanted to leave but she couldn't, she found it impossible to tear away. Rainbow Ridge and Rosemont had been the start of her new life, had been her first home. And now, it seemed like both were bring her her end. Turning to the hopeful little filly with a sad little smile, she whispered, "I will come, m'dear... I'll be coming soon. I promise."

[OOC: What do you mean, Spirit? TP is too mad. She's losing it. She's not listening to what others are saying, she's ranting over and under everyone else because she doesn't care what they think anymore ;D I think it's pretty clear how she feels, personally]

[OOC: Well, okay then, I still think it might be a little more polite to wait for Dusty so King doesn't get totally lost in posts when he's such a big part of the plot ]

King stood still, no stallion was going to scare him away from his mares. His large hooves stamped the ground, his tail lashing. His ears were pinned as his eyes scanned over the stallion, Rosemont. There was no way that this colt could think that he would get mares back that did not want him back. His head raised higher, he was indeed a large stallion. A draft horse against a mere colt? No, this would not happen, not in a long run. He can go elsewhere to have a terra and keep his mares. There is no way that he would take what is rightfully his. He snorted loudly as Raidho turned to the mares, whispering to them to take leave to King's terra. It was safe and away from the comflict. King would not be fighting today, or ever. If Frothy wanted a fight, then she can go fight with another stallion. It was her fault that she left and her fault that she lost the foal. If she was not strong enough for King, then she did not belong in the herd. Velvet was his rightful lead now since Frothy had vanished anyways. One does not leave for a long time and think that they still have a spot open. He gave another long snort, his dark and intense eyes staring harshly at the other horses. His mares were only what he cared about now..his mares and his land.

Faradera stepped backward. Rosemont's odd behavior, practically bipolar, and then Diamond's outburst, followed by Tulip's, and Raidho and King. She wanted to do what was best for L'eau, but in the confusion it was difficult. She decided to deal with things one at a time, to allow her own thoughts to sort themselves out. Turning to Iced Diamond, she pinned her ears back a bit, and snapped, "Now you are being foolish. Show some sense! You love Rosemont and he loves you. Don't go abandoning him because of this silly spectacle. And what of Light? Would you take her away from her father? I thought you had more sense than that. Shame on you for acting as foolish as I." She snorted, and shoved the younger mare back to where she belonged, at Rosemont's side.
Oh yes, Rosemont. Her voice was uncertain as she said, "One moment you threaten and rage, and presume to know exactly how another would act. the next, you are all sweet sugar and apologies. How on earth am I supposed to know which one is the real you? To be honest, it scares me. And my first duty now lies with L'eau, and then Tulip. You can understand why your priority on my list has gone down, I'm sure. Hopefully you understand my position." Faradera nuzzled L'eau protectively. Whatever happened, L'eau came first, no matter what. Tulip was a close second. There were few others she cared for any more, not alive, anyway. It seemed that those she loved always ended up dead. The mare shuddered, and banished the thought. Don't be ridiculous.
Now, her muzzle swung around to Tulip. "I assume you heard what I just told Rosemont. You and L'eau are most important to me now. So, whatever happens, know that you can trust me., if no one else."
She swiveled, and paced away slowly. Her thoughts tumbled in her head, making it ache. Who to trust, she did not know. to be frank, Rosemont was frightening and maddening her in turn, and she felt an odd temptation to kick some sense into him. Diamond was being too emotional and forgetting herself. Tulip was, well, spazzing, and King? Who knew. "Whatever," she muttered to herself, "I wash my hooves of this business." Then, as a sudden afterthought, she called back over her shoulder to Rosemont, "And do not presume to call me 'little girl', stallion. I am three or four times as old as you, remember that. You would do well to think before you speak." And, to diamond, "I can understand what you mean by not being a mother until you've born a foal- at least, sort of. So what does that make me? I have born three. None lived even to be given a name. But now, I raise one not of my own blood, and I can only hope that I do it well. Does raising L'eau not make me a mother, but bearing three dead foals make me qualify? Or am I an unfit mother, incapable of even keeping a colt or filly alive for ten minutes? I leave that decision up to you to ponder. You tell me what motherhood is." Her voice was bitter, bitter as her own thoughts. It was a cruel world, this one, with little good to make up for the bad. With a flick of her tail, she turned and continued on. She could not stand this a moment longer.
