Name: Swede
Age: 6 years
Breed: Swedish Warmblood
Height: 15.3hh
Colour: Chestnut
Eye Colour: Dark brown, almost black
Gender: Mare
Markings: White Blaze and white socks on two front legs
History: Swede was born and raised in the wild, among your typical loving herd. There really isn't any explanation for why two purebred, show-quality Swedish Warmbloods in their prime, one pregnant with the other, ended up in a wild herd, but they did. Somehow. They never told Swede exactly how, which has always bothered her.
Swede was definitely not your typical filly. She was a pretty little thing, and graceful, too, with a lovely fluid gait and a coat that seemed to always shine. The only other two colts in the herd were smitten, for obvious reasons. And yet, she didn't seem interested or at all pleased with this. She was always very curious and incredibly talkative.
On the outside, she looked like a classy, elegant mare in her prime, but the moment she opened her mouth it was as if she was a filly. She talked the ears off her old herd members, and asked so many questions it became almost annoying. She wanted to know everything. She had a thirst for knowledge, and her close-minded, secretive family members were not helping. They refused to talk about their histories or share their theories as to why things happened. In fact, the adopted the idea that something was wrong with Swede's mind, and pretended that she was indeed a filly, mindlessly humoring her.
However, she was also quite a bold and headstrong young mare, and so one day she became so infuriated with her herd that she began ranting about running away. None of her herd members were scared or worried in the least about it... they were all convinced that she would never have the guts. This only kindled her anger more, and that very night she ran, slipped out of the terra without the slightest sound and left her herd. She's slipped in and out of two herds by now, each one as dumb and narrow-minded as the next. She's found quite a bit of answers on her own and by questioning wandering loners, who always seemed to know much more about the world than horses in herds.
Eventually, she concluded that she'd really like to be a loner herself, and learn the way those loners she had met did. She eventually slipped out of this illusion and now knows the hardships the wild horse world brings to a loner, but she has come to enjoy loner life. She's no longer naive or childish, and although she still enjoys a chat and never stops wanting to learn, she knows when to draw the line, now. Although she is, if possible, even more bold and adventurous than she started out.
She's stumbled upon Sunshine River by chance, and as usual, plans to learn as much as she can while she's here.
