A neigh rent the still air. Dusk had turned to night, stars littering the sky with their light, a full moon overhead. The light was not that dim, bright by the moonlight. Hoofbeats filled the air as a horse traveled...No, two horses. Another neigh lifted up into the air, followed by a loud snort. The caller reared up onto his haunches, a young stallion. Not over a year for sure. He was a rich chocolate color, strong and handsome. He let his hooves touch the ground once more, his bright eyes looking around the terra. Would he come? His mind raced with thoughts. Maybe if he thought that a challenger had come to try and claim his terra, he would come to see them...He let his mane fly wild, his forelock whipping in front of his eyes. He was truly his namesake, a Rogue.
Behind him a short distance, trotted a painted mare. Bay and white, she trotted with a slight limp. Her body was thick and covered with a fine muscling. She was nervous, back in this terra after having been gone for so long. She did not even have a good reason other than getting lost...what a mare? A mare that could get lost in her own land. How ridiculious was that? She snorted softly, her white mane and tail flowing behind her as she caught up with her son, stopping to stand beside him. What did he think that he was doing? He could not be even thinking to challenge, he was way too young and would never even last five minutes in the battle. Then it hit her mind, he wanted to make sure that he would come. Make sure that they would not be overlooked in this large place, in the dark. Why had they not rested in another terra before coming here? She shook her head, her forelock covering her eyes like a maiden's veil.

It Happened That Night
Alaskan StarThe stallion had heard the call; a call that felt so familiar yet he wondered who is was from. He moved from his watchful place where he had been looking after his small herd and made his way from the tree coverage to where the call had come from. he slowed his foot falls making them silent, he crept around the two and came up behind Brazen firstly and whispered sweetly in her ear. [/i]"I knew you would come" He then added. "Remain silent."
Then moving from her crept up on the young colt. "You called or a challenge my son?" He said with a slight laugh. He moved round to face them both and nuzzled firstly his son and then the mare he so dearly cared for.

ooc: its alright, ive been lame lately...
Brazen let a sweet smile caress her muzzle as she watched Alaskan Star creep up to their son. Though the colt was older, he was in no position to challenge an older stallion and he knew that. A soft chuckle passed through her muzzle.
Rogue turned quickly, his head flying upright and his brushy tail flying upwards, "Father! You came! No, I am not challenging you, I was calling you." He spoke fast, his heart still racing from the fright that he just had. He snorted softly and strode up to his father, nuzzling him softly and nipping playfully.

It Happened That Night
Alaskan Star"I know son" He said with a chuckle. He nipped back playfully at his son, "I shall have to teach you to fight soon, so you can hold your own and a successful herd" He said happily. "Now, I am sure you are tired and should rest with the others till daybreak when we shall be able to speak more; come." He said leading the way back to the herd; who slept. He moved almost silently, only soft foot falls could be heard from him. He let a soft snort escape as he moved easily about his land. Happy that his cute little pony mare had finally returned home. He wondered if she would want to wait or have a foal next spring. Thoughts raced through his mind, he was sure too that Snowdrift would welcome them back happily, she was good like that. He felt a deep love for each of his mares, but never the same so he could and never would compare any of them.

Rogue jumped up slightly at the nip, playfully boxing at his sire with his forehooves. It did not matter that his sire was not truly his sire, but that he was the one that was there for him and would teach him how to be a good stallion. "Yes, sire, teach me everything! I want to be a great stallion like you!" He shook his head and snorted, prancing a bit in front of Alaskan Star as they made their way back to the sleeping herd.
Brazen followed close behind, her nostrils taking in the scent of her stallion. Oh how she had missed him. She had wanted to be with him each and every day, but she was not..and she just did not have a good reason why not. She let her tail and head bob rhythym with each step as she followed, her mind racing. Should she give Alaskan Star a foal this next spring? Should she wait? The thoughts raced through her mind as she let his scent fill her body.

It was near midnight. The sky was like deep blue velvet, studded with tiny, white-gold stars. It was breathtaking.
Snowdrift couldn't sleep that night. Her stallion was wandering the terra again, probably just meandering about pointlessly. Apple Alley was a peaceful kind of place, simply devoid of danger. However, being a new mother, she couldn't help still feeling wary.
The young dappled mare dipped her head gently, touching her muzzle to her sleeping son. He was beautiful, a stunning dark gray colt, strong and long-legged as his father. Alaskan Snowstorm. She couldn't help giving a quiet snort of mirth at the thought of it. There were some days where she wished she had been more creative with her son's name... but it was a good name. To her, it symbolized strength and swiftness, both of which the young colt had. Barely one season old, he raced around nearly faster than his mother.
But Snowdrift was still a relatively young mare. Having a son made her feeling awfully old sometimes, but she knew she wasn't. She just wished that she had more mares for company, to remind her of it. Everlasting and Brazen, both her only friends in this place, had both disappeared. Brazen and Rogue... she remembered the pair well. The thought brought a small, sad smile to her face. Oh, what she would give to see what had become of them since they had left.
A few words floated past on the wind. The mare's ears perked up. Had Alaskan Star encountered another horse?
Setting off at a loping, graceful, near-silent canter, she wove skillfully between the trees from where the sounds of conversation, growing ever-louder, were coming from. She knew their part of Apple Alley extremely well by now. She'd been here for possibly 3 years by now. She didn't even remember anymore.
She burst unexpectedly upon them. Alaskan Star, Brazen, and Rogue. She was so surprised that she could barely say anything.

It Happened That Night
Alaskan StarThe stallion snorted softly. They were set upon by his lead. Giving a little whinny to the mare he stopped short in his track and greeted her. "I am welcoming back Brazen and Rouge, my dear. It is about time you had some more company" He said softly touching his nose to her. "how is the little one?" He asked, guessing she had left him safe and sleeping back at where they had been sleeping. "Come, lets return back and settle before morning and we can talk at first light" He said moving forward and nipping playfully at the young stallion.

Rogue reared up playfully, tossing his head and nipping back at the older stallion as he graced the ground once more with his hooves and pranced forward, his tail straight up in the air. His cadence was proud, yet he was so sure of himself already.
Brazen nodded her head, she was indeed tired from the travels and it was good to see her friend and her stallion once more. But a new foal? Was it true that Snowdrift had foaled with Alaskan Star's foal? Oh it must be a glorius foal indeed. She nickered happily at Snowdrift, happy to see her friend, "Yes, let us sleep as I am indeed tired and Rogue should be sleeping, the wild one has been galloping ahead of me most of the night."

The dappled grey couldn't help chuckling, shaking out her lovely, pearly mane. "Brazen, I just culdn't tell how much I missed your company!" she giggled quietly, her warm brown eyes sparkling with glee. "I really can't believe you came back." The lead's eyes fell upon rambunctious Rogue, galloping alongside his father, so proud-looking.
"He'll make a good friend for my son," she said, smiling softly. "Alaskan Snowstorm is his name. He's sound asleep now, like good colts should be..." Snowdrift sighed quietly.

Brazen looked up at Snowdrift and smiled softly, "It has been so long and I have missed you so much. We do have so much to catch up on, do we not?" She snorted softly, her tail lashing behind her. "Of course, I think that it can wait till morning because my little stallion here needs to be in bed, where good foals should be." Her head swung around to stare at Rogue, who was munching on the grass as if it was the middle of the day.
Rogue snorted and looked up at his mother, almost sticking his tongue out but not wanting to get thumped by Alaskan Star. He shook his head and quickly laid down, tucking his nose to his chest and trying to close his eyes. Soon sleep overcame the eager colt and dreams filled his mind.

Alaskan star gave a small snort and touched his nose to his mares and settled down in his place for the night. He knew he would wake in a short few hours and wound then wander silently throughout his territory making sure all was well before returning to his herd and sleeping once more, this time till morning came and the birds started to sing and the sun creeped up onto the the sky, making everything burst into life.
He moved his hindquarters around and tossed his mane silently out of his eyes to look at the two happy mares and letting another soft snort escape his muzzle he settled down to sleep.

Snowdrift's smile was soft but radiant. "We do indeed," she replied, her light, silvery voice so quiet that it could barely be heard. "In the morning."
The dapple gray galloped over to where her son slept. Young as he was, the colt was growing at an incredible pace. Or perhaps that was normal at this age? The lead had never really been that hands-on with the herd's foals, in her previous herd. And even in this herd, it was still young and small, if tight-knit... the only foal she had really ever remembered being born was young Rogue himself, but she knew that she hadn't really seen him grow up. Brazen and her son had left before that.
She still wondered why they had even left... were they unhappy? Restless? Or was it something else? Snow shifted a bit uncomfortably, shoving the thoughts out of her head. She would ask Brazen in the morning. In the morning.

Rogue woke early in the morning, his long legs stretching as he stood up. For such a small stallion, he sure had long legs right now. He stretched this way and that as he shook his head and lowered it, snatching a bite to eat as he let his legs stretch behind him. His chocolate body shimmered from the dew that had collected on him overnight causing him to sparkle like a mystical horse of legend. His intelligent eyes gleamed as he looked around himself at the rest of the dozing herd. A silent giggle raced through his mind at all of the things that he could accomplish now.
Brazen lay quietly, her eyes barely open as she watched her young son behaving badly. She knew what he was up to and did not like it one bit. She knew that he wanted to go exploring by himself and that soon she would have to let him go, but right now it was easier to keep him in the herd. Her bay pinto body gleamed in the light as she rested quietly on the ground, just waiting for Rogue to make his move towards the end of the terra.
