Welcome to Sunshine River! Before you start posting, please make sure to read all of the following in order to keep the site happy and functioning properly.
General:
-Be polite.
-Don't spam the cbox.
-Don't start arguments or mini-mod; if there's a problem, PM admin to sort it out.
-Advertise in the advert board only.
-Stay active. Make as many characters as you want, but keep them posted. Again and again and again, I've seen people make twenty characters, post them everywhere, then disappear two weeks and keep everyone waiting. If you post somewhere, you are involved in that thread until you say your character leaves, or leave a note for people to continue without you. If you fail to stay active, your characters will be adopted out and you will be deleted. UNLESS you post in the going away board under OOC with a valid excuse, then you are excused.
-Use proper spelling and grammar. Chatspeak may be used in cbox only.
Characters:
-Please use the character form provided. You can describe personality and appearance as much as you want in the history, but keep things concise in the Name through Markings section of the form, to make it easier for people to get a quick overview, and also to make generating foal stats easier.
-You do NOT need to wait for your character to be accepted before posting it. If I see something unsatisfactory with your character, I will let you know. Otherwise, just post away.
-Post your characters in the Character Joining board. If you have three or more characters, you will get your own subboard for them. I prefer that you include the character's name in the thread title, it makes it easier for people to find them.
-There is a set of Character Guidelines which provides basic information on horses in general. If you are uncertain of how to calculate horse heights, want help with color terminology and markings, and aren't familiar with horse anatomy/behavior, then hopefully this will be helpful to you. Currently a work in progress; and if you already are familiar with everything equine, then of course you don't need to read it.
Adoption:
-Please click HERE for Adoption rules.
In Character:
-Posts have a 100 word minimum.
-Use a posting order (don't skip people a dozen times so that they're left out just because they don't happen to be logged in when you are on). If someone doesn't post for seven days or more, then you may skip them.
-No powerplaying or godmodding. Don't know what this is? It's when you control characters who aren't yours, and make them do things without their owner's consent; also, you do not have the invincible, untouchable, perfect, ultimate character. This is not only rude and frustrating for others, it's boring. Flaws are what make people (or horses, in this case) interesting.
-No magical characters, or characters with supernatural abilities. This site is fairly realistic; do not create a unicorn or a horse who can cause thunderstorms, for example.
-You might know everything about someone else's character before RPing with them, but your character does not. Keep that in mind.
Breeding:
-Breeding may be done in spring, summer, and fall.
-Post breedings in the Breeding Canyon. If you do not wish to RP a breeding thread, you may skip it and just PM the parent stats to me.
-No graphic breeding, this is a kid-friendly site.
-No forcebreeding without the consent of the player who controls the mare being forcebred.
-Mares can give birth a year after they breed.
-PM the stats of parents (the section of the profile from Name to Markings) to admin, and they will determine foal stats for you. All foal stats are final and may not be changed. There is a 1/41 chance of the foal being stillborn, unless you buy a Live Foal Guarantee (see Shop rules).
Territories:
-Stallions must have at least two mares before they can claim territory.
-You may play a mare in your stallion's herd, but only one.
-When a terra is claimed, you must PM me the herd stats so I can update the board. A claim isn't recognized until I get those stats.
-Lone stallions in a herd may have up to TWO mares of their own; however, they may not have more mares than the lead stallion.
Fights and Challenges:
-Stallions may challenge for territory or mares. To do this, post the challenge in the correct herd board, and include either OOC or IC what the stallion is challenging for (what he'll get if he wins).
-If the challenge is not answered within ten days, it is an automatic forfeit and the challenger will get his prize. If the challenge is answered, however, and the challenger has low activity (i.e., not responding for several days), the challenger loses automatically so that the herd can continue on with their own RPing and not be held up.
-Fights will be posted in Stallion Circle. Each player makes ten posts, then PMs admin, who will judge the fight based on horse stats, player activity, and post quality (unless the players have already agreed who will win). IC damage does not count towards judging, because if it did, nobody would allow damage to be done, would they?
-Having said that, allow damage to be done. Again, you cannot have the ultimate superhorse who dodges every blow and doesn't even sustain a scratch. It's not fun, and it's not fair.
-Challenges are weighted by difficulty. A challenge for one mare will get equal judging; a challenge for several mares, or for the territory, will be in the current owner's favor and more difficult to win; a challenge for the territory and the whole herd will be very difficult to win.
-Mares may challenge other mares in the herd to move up in rank and become lead mare. These fights can just take place in their territory.
