Patriot casually walked into the Gathering Fountain area. He typically avoided this place, for it held bad memories, but this time he was taking a stroll with his Dream and that was all that mattered for the moment. He had grown a bit weary of seeing the Watering Hole and all the same old equines. Maybe he would spy some new faces here?
He knew Dream was close behind him - she would not stray far from him after the tragic incident with the wolves. The black stallion was so grateful that her foal was still alive and kicking and that she had been returned unharmed. He wouldn't let that happen to her a second time. Nope, once was enough.
Firedancer and Nirvana were to stay at Apple Alley where they were sure to be safe for now. Patriot knew Firedancer would not mind if he spent some time with his other mare.
The dark stallion stared at the nearly clear sky. Above floated one small cloud in a sea of light blue; other than that, as far as the eye could see, the sky stretched out in an unmeasurable expanse. No breeze stirred the air around him as he walked across the dry grass. It was such a hot day.

Dream followed close behind her stallion, hardly lagging behind at all. Soft snorts rippled her nostrils as she walked behind him, her tail swinging with the beat of her gait. The foal was asleep in her belly, making it easy to do anything right now.
This place, she knew it from before she met her stallion. A shook head and a snort, that was all it took to shake off the memories of the past. Her hooves made a gentle sound on the dry gound as she softly laid her muzzle on his hindquarters as she kept walking as he slowed down to look at the sky. Whoops...not paying attention. She shook her head and backed up slightly, looking up at the sky as he had. It was a lovely summer day, but boy was it hot out here. The sun was hot and the water looked so refreshing.

Patriot felt their bodies bump against each other and turned to look at Dream with soft eyes. He immediately hoped his bumbling move hadn't hurt her. She was watching the sky, though and didn't seem at all effected by the small encounter. He let a deep breath whoosh through his nares as he watched her upturned head. The dark stallion doubted she found the sky quite as interesting as he had, but any horse would have turned to look at what was surely interesting to another.
His skin flicked lightly as a fly touched it. He couldn't believe any beast would want to touch his steamy hot coat right now. The sun was hitting it and heating it up to what felt like such a high temperature that a two-legged could have cooked some bacon on him. Looking around, he spotted a tree which was casting a sliver of shade on the crispy ground. He nickered lightly to Dream and started to move toward it. Great relief spread through him as he slipped into the shadow. There was not much of a difference in temperature here, but at least they were hidden from the sun's omnipotent rays. "Do you see anyone you know?" he queried.

She looked down at Patriot and snicked softly, "No, I dont see anyone that I know today. What about you? Anyone that you know?" She smiled softly, her ears fluttering to shake away the flies.
Her coat shuddered as she shook off the flies, the day was hot, but she was with her stallion today and for the rest of her life. She shook her head at the flies, standing with her left hind hoof resting. She let her head hang for a bit, relaxing as the hot sun beat down on her black back and knowing that her stallion was nearby to protect her if anything happened.
