Adoni slowed down from her gallop to a fast trot to a slow trot and then to a walk and finally stopped. After running for days from her love who betrayed her and her friend who betrayed her, she hadn't stopped running since till she got to Sunshine River, or so some horses had told her. After what she had just gone through, she wasn't about to trust the first horse she saw. Or rabbit. Or squirrel. Or even a little bug. No, it would take someone a very long time to gain her trust. Very long. She gratefully took a sip of the water that was left in water hole in front of her. It was summer, and as Adoni had made her way across some fields, she had noticed quite a few brush fires. She would have to be careful during the night in case another one started here. She looked around for a nice big tree, walked over to it, and heavily clunked her body down in the shade and before her head hit the ground, fell into a deep sleep.

[OOC: Open thread?]
A shoddy-looking Shetland Pony stallion came in a slumping trot. Lord Fauntleroy snorted irately at the horses who gave him odd looks. He got odd looks wherever he went. After all, a pony his size and build was a rather new sight for these foolish, small-minded horses.
The pony was in a rather bad mood today. Roy hated the summer. His shaggy coat and mane made him overheat quite a bit when it was hot out, and this particular day was turning out to be a real scorcher, which made Roy really very irritated. The heat was one of his few enemies. Usually a rather sunny, cheerful pony, today he cast thunderous looks at any horse who dared even to talk to him.
Trotting up the bank, he lowered his head to drink from the cool water.

OOC: Yes!
Adoni opened one of her tired eyes just a wink. What was all the fuss about? She heard snorting and some light footsteps. Then she heard this thing go around to the watering hole. Adoni put her head down in hope of falling asleep but she knew that wouldn't happen. Once she got hooked on something interesting, she couldn't just leave it. She was far to curious now to go to sleep. Adoni sighed, heaved her body up, and then made her way around the tree so she could the watering hole without coming to close so she could bolt if there was trouble. Adoni searched the whole watering hole with her eyes but could not see anything that would bother anyone. Right when her eyes hit upon a little Shetland a few horses were passing by who gave the Shetland some funny looks. Adoni even gave him a funny look. What an odd horse! He was sort of cute though. As the horses passed by the stallion he snorted a little. So that was who was making the noise! But Adoni hadn't even bothered to look at him because he looked like a nice, bright, cheerful little pony. Adoni relized then she was thirsty, so she went down to the watering hole, and was only ten feet or so from the Shetland when she put her head down to drink.

Roy saw a fairly pretty-looking dun mare out the corner of his eye. Although he was feeling fairly grumpy today, he still nursed a soft spot for particularly pretty mares. However, even though she was pretty, he also had a feeling she was the shyer type... and, although he wished he could have a chance to woo her, he didn't feel cheerful enough to put on the sweet, quiet act that such shy mares usually liked.
However, the pony couldn't help cutting his eyes at the mare across the way, blowing his shaggy mane out of his eyes so he could see better. She was very pretty after all. Very, very pretty.

Adoni stole a look at the Shetland, and to her surprise, saw him looking back. She quickly looked away. Then she suddenly realized what she was doing. What?! She was just going up to some horse (or pony for that matter) and stealing looks at him. But then she wasn't trusting him, so she decided not to blame herself. Adoni was a horse that was stubborn and would always try to blame someone else. Besides, she was sick of stallions after what King had done to her. She was only looking at him. He was actually a very cute little pony. But no, she was not just going to go running up to him. The Shetland looked like he was not having his best day either.

Hoofbeats annouced two newcomers, coming to gather and drink. Their journey had been long and tiresome. Their terra was still intact it seemed and they needed to rest and gather. The motley duo was a glorious black and white Gypsy Vanner and a buckskin Mustang stallion. The former was a bit ragged around the edges, his mane and tail slightly knotted and his coat dull and dirty. The latter was limping slightly, but his muscles showed the signs of a great stallion, strength and endurance. His mane and tail were also ragged, the duo of them showing their hardships that they had recently endured. But it was time to get back on their hooves and find new mares to join their herd. A nice herd it would be...of course it was in a lovely location and two warriors at the post. But of course now, it was time to drink and meet others.

[OOC: Lol, sorry guys xD]
After another intense moment of sweaty, miserable hotness, there was suddenly an enormous clump of clouds that seemed to cover up the wide clearing. It immediately seemed extremely cooler... Roy could almost feel the heat streaming out of his thick, shaggy coat. Sighing happily, he murmured absently to himself, "Now, this is more like it!"
Feeling better automatically, his eye drifted over to that pretty little mare he'd seen before. Washing his mouth out quickly in the lake, shaking out his shaggy mane, he checked his reflection one time in the surface of the Watering Hole, winking cheekily at it, before heading over to her at a saucy, bouncy trot.
"Afternoon, melady," he said brightly. "Standard summer's day, lovely as y'self."

Adoni giggled slightly and looked at the little pony. " Why, hello there. My name's Adoni. May I ask you yours?" Even though Adoni had resolved to not trust anyone, she couldn't help talking to this cute little pony. Sneaking a quick look at Roy, she swished her tail and put her head down to take a little drink of water. There were two reasons she was talking to the stallion: one was because he was cute, the other because her mood had also brightened to the sudden shift of weather. That was nice. She lifted her head again and looked at the Shetland, giving him a smile.

He let his natural smile take over his face; huge, exuberant, and brilliant. Like most mares, this one seemed to be taken by his charm.
"Adoni, y'say? Why, isn't that just a beautiful name for a stunnin' mare such as ye!" he crowd, his saucy, accented voice cutting through the quiet, peaceful air that hung over the Watering Hole. It drew the attention of a few other horses as well, and he heard at least one mare cooing. Cocky little Lord Fauntleroy found that he often had that affect.
Tossing his fair, shaggy mane, his warm eyes twinkling with mirth and maybe just a bit of mischief, he stooped to slurp some of the Hole's cool water.
